So, today I am supposed to be having a day off (to do some long-neglected housework before the hordes descend at the weekend); this morning I have had a wound on my back re-packed and dressed (ouch), attended an emergency meeting with colleagues, done some shopping, met with a client, lost my purse (oh help that was scary !), been re-united with my purse (thanks to a kindly Co-op customer) and got almost blown away by ferocious winds and saturated by torrential rain.
I staggered home and came through my front door feeling tired, in pain, chilly and very slightly down in the dumps at the prospect of my workload over Christmas - and there was a Christmas card waiting for me with a NZ stamp on it from the young man who had stayed with me two and a half years ago (see link below). He's written quite a long screed about our discussion that night and the impact it's had on his life and just wanted to thank me and encourage me to keep doing what I do. It's honestly made my day and was such a kind thing to do for someone he only met once.

What would make your day/what surprises have you had recently?
I suppose I shouldn’t have been annoyed, but…
