Patience is a virtue..

I never open a new one until the old one is well and truly used up. The problem is I put things like toothpaste and shower gel in a bathroom cupboard for later use then forget they're there so often end up buying more because I haven't made a shopping list.

My thrift has a certain weakness.

Ooooh I have to open things and try them regardless. I'm not patient in that respect. I think it's part of nosiness really.

Yes, of course, I open the new one and give it a try. Doesn´t everyone? When I buy something new to wear, I try it on as soon as I get home.

It depends what it is, toothpaste just goes into the bathroom cupboard, but I may try out a new shower gel or moisturiser.

I never try new things on when I get home, its just cleaning stuff and soap that I can't resist.

My Welsh chapel background means I have to deny myself such pleasures until I can justify them.

Though as I get older I think I may as well use things because if not now, when?

It was only when I opened a bathroom cupboard and got beaten senseless by the barrage of half empty/full shower gels, moisturisers, toners, toothpastes, body lotions, body scrubs, shampoos and conditioners, that fell out and hit me on the head, that I decided not to buy one more until they'd been used up completely. I haven't bought any of those products for over 2 months now, so must have had a huge stash.

I'll try new shampoos or shower gels because I always have more than one on the go. But toothpaste just goes into storage until I need a new one as it's not so exciting to try it, I feel.

I have just made a decision not to buy shower gel due to the plastic containers. However, not sure what I can do abo9ut shampoo ...........

I've just bought a shampoo bar.
I haven't tried it yet, as I have 2 open bottles of shampoo on the go, but it smells lovely.

Yesterday I threw out an 90% empty bottle of kitchen spray cleaner because I had a new one and knew of I didn't I'd find it in a year's time in the back of the cupboard ! I'm exactly the same with make up, face cream well everything really

My SIL was a primary school teacher, and 3 years after retirement she was still using up the bath/shower products her kids gave her for Christmases!

I am afraid I am like Merlot and finish the old ones up first. I was brought up to be extremely thrifty.

I don't throw away anything, I just end up with 2 or 3 on the go at once..

I do not open a new product until the old one is used up, if you just open them to see what it smells like then you expose the contents to the air and they will deteriorate.

Simply not curious about trivial stuff like toothpaste or cleaning products.
Clothes I try on right away in case they have to be returned.
Throwing stuff out in order to start a new bottle is incomprehensible!

I’m sick to death of my current shower gel because it’s a large bottle (was on offer) and seems everlasting. I dare not go on to another until it’s used up because I will never want to go back to it. Perhaps I should use a bigger squirt each time!

I love to actually finish something and throw an empty away, I do start things before others have finished tho, but using something up feels like an achievement. Having recently finished radiotherapy though, I am struggling to use up all my prescribed E45 creams and the like lol x

My handwash is like that, too. I'm fed up with looking at it.

My father used to save slivers of soap then stick them together to make another bar. The indestructible Imperial Leather label would still be there. I always thought it was a pointless exercise because there was absolutely not a scrap of lather left. They were frugal times though. God help anyone who didn't squeeze the very last smidgeon of toothpaste out of the tube by rolling it up as you went along. Can't do that with today's plastic ones!

I've nearly finished my body moisturiser. Can't wait to open the new one which I won in the Gransnet Sanctuary Spa hamper competition. DD said, 'Mum. I'd be moisturising the cat by now to use it up. What are you like?'

Different if it's a product you really dislike, but to chuck stuff out just because you have bought a new bottle???
(E45 is good as a heavy-duty overnight hand cream).

I don't chuck out existing products, but I do love new ones so will often have a couple of shower gels on the go for example. I am training myself to stop keeping stuff 'for best', I am 'for best'.

I was the worlds worst for opening and trying new products, make up being my weakness.
I got a severe eye infection last year and had to throw away loads of cosmetics so now I’m cured.
I do however have drawer full of my lovely new things, I have a look every now and then but never try!

Your are extravagant, clearly you don't have to count the pennies, lucky you!
