I’m feeling very let down by a friend of mine and wondering what everyone’s take is on this;
I have a good friend who I have known for 30 years and coincidentally we have worked together in two different job settings for most of that time.
She has a strange and unhappy marriage and does very little with her husband so myself and our friends group always include her in our outings and couples dinner parties etc.
I left my last job after over twenty years in the summer due to the unpleasant behaviour of two other women who worked there and although I tried to stick it out, for my own sanity I needed to go as senior management did nothing to resolve the situation.
Several other colleagues who had become good friends to us both had also previously left due to the unpleasantness of these two.
However, my friend has remained in her job (she works only two days a week). One of the two women is now leaving herself and my friend is looking forward to attending her leaving ‘do’! She told me this yesterday and I’ve since felt very let down by her. I’m upset that she will be seen supporting this woman despite her having caused so much unhappiness to her real friends.
Maybe you’ll all think I’m being silly but this has really got to me!
What is our role as older people?
