Hello,
I am 52 and I am perimenopousal. I had my last period 65 days ago. I have VA with a burning sensation, and my vulva is really irritated. I am married for 20 years but sex is out of question right now (to tell the truth it had been almost a year, no libido, painful intercourse). I am in Canada, I went to GP and they ruled out BV, yeast and STDs. She put me on vagifem. Everyday for 2 weeks and then twice a day. On the 4th day I started to experience side effects like palpitation, nerve tremour, nausea, bloating. I don't feel very very dry down there but this burning sensation makes life a misery. I don't have itch. I read many good things about vagifem an users are generally content. All the over the counter and natural products made me somehow uncomfortable. I want to be on vagifem. What happens if I skip the 2 week loading period and use it every 3 days? I think I still have some estrogen in my system, do you think it my cover the initial loading period? Or the loading period is absolutely necessary. I would be most grateful for your opinions. I may see an OB but in this country it will take at least 4 weeks if I am lucky.

Hello arkolapso I am so sorry you are in such discomfort. I too have had such problems. I have never tried vagifem so cannot help there I am afraid. I use Replens which has changed my life. I hope others can give the help you need.

Hi arkolapso what a lovely country you live in. Just back from VI visiting relatives. Wonderful!
I should get professional advice in case there’s an active ingredient you are allergic to, especially as you’ve had trouble with other products. Personally I’ve usedVagifem for 18 months with no side effects. Good luck!
