Zero tolerance of naughty children

I'm always amazed at parents who smile indulgently whilst their children cause havoc in public places.
I do not like bad behaviour at all, and I'm pretty intolerant of it.

MawBroon we took the DGC to somewhere the other week which included two or three soft play areas. There was one for toddlers, one for 3 - 7s and a new one, much more difficult, for 4 - 10s.

Why, oh why, when the older children were having a great time in the more 'difficult' area, did parents allow toddlers of about 18months to 2 years in there - they were trying to climb up the steep slide, getting in the way of the older children.

Parents chatting and some even encouraging their little toddlers to go in there! Other Granny and I said nothing but sat and wondered how long it would be before a parent complained that their darling toddler had been knocked down the slide and hurt by an older child!

It's naughty over-indulgent parents that annoy me

I confess to not being a particularly tolerant granny, children are expected to behave sensibly and not intimidate others, this inevitably means that Granny Diana is not popular with the older boys.

I cant abide bad behaviour in children my daughter says I'm "old school" but when she has problems with hers its me she calls to sort them out!!.Before you all comment on her doing her own sorting ,she's bedridden much of the time with multiple health issues and they play her up ,well the 7 year old does .She never plays me up though she knows better .
Last week after cheek and refusals to tidy her room granny was drafted in and she now has a lock on her cupboard so if she wants anything out she has to ask for it.The room wont get that untidy again.

When my grandchildren were younger and were playing in an area designed for under 4s and they were frightened or overwhelmed by bigger kids tearing around I have stepped in and politely pointed out that the area was meant for little ones. The bigger kids usually just looked a bit surprised and moved elsewhere. It is frustrating if parents aren't monitoring their own children's behaviour but its usually just thoughtlessness on the older childrens part.

I agree with you MawBroon. I don't expect perfection 100% of the time because I think that is unreasonable but I expect good behaviour most of the time.

You were probably wise not to say anything or a there could have been a nasty public argument.
