Purely ornamental and aimed to distract the other person so that they agree to things they didn't intend to agree to because they are mesmerised by the earrings [Grin}

Rufus like you, I sometimes look at ear adornments and wonder ... some are truly monumental.

I recently read that it is true that our ears and our noses never stop growing (because cartilage keeps on growing, albeit slowly).

So that explains why many older men seem to have huge ear lobes I did wonder??‍♀️

I do like a fancy dan earring, and feel a bit naked without them.. My American friend calls them earbobs, which I’ve adopted.

I have noticed recently that one of my earlobes, and therefore one of my earbobs, hangs lower than the other. What’s that about?

The concept of "purpose" has occupied the minds of philosophers since time immemorial, such as in "what's the purpose of life" and thus too profound to be defined here. How about that?

Normally I’d say that was a cop-out Rufus, but if what you’re trying to say is that there’s no point in pursuing the purpose of a purpose because better men and women than we have pursued this to death to no purpose then I’d have to accept that.

Earring adverts just popped up. This is getting weird!

I like a nice earring and surprisingly some of the larger one are not that heavy. What I do not like is large earrings and a large necklace - one or the other not both.

Monica; Good thinking! Although, the chaps at our "Over 80s"club say I've been on the wrong tram with ear rings. They reckon "cleavage" is becoming even more prevalent as a distraction on TV and adds 50% more; each.!
