Must haves on holiday

Ah well I do have a lot to take with me this week but we are self catering. If we weren't I would be taking my own coffee, green tea bags, a few nibbles (for the room) and Weetabix if abroad for DH.

If I'm going to a B&B I take tea bags as they never provide enough.
Usually I am going by train to a caravan park and take rubber gloves, cleaning cloths and tea towels and buy food there. This year we are going by car so I can take some food and am currently thinking of what to take.

DH’s meusli and a particular brand of redbush tea that I like. As we are holidaying with DD this year I shall expect her to cater for any other dietary flight of fancy I may have!

Always teabags ,we had boxes of good old Yorkshire teabags in our boat in Greece,even left some for the new owners.

Wherever we go, be it camping, B&B or hotel we always take builders teabags, a couple of apples and a packet of hobnobs. My OH gets grumpy if he doesn't get something to eat around the time his stomach considers it mealtime .
If it's a family visit, I take goodies for everyone to share.

Just back from fab family villa holiday in Portugal, while unpacking, yell from daughter in kitchen, mum did you remember the coffee and salad cream, we like decent coffee and my dgds won’t eat salad without salad cream?

Neither tea nor biscuits feature in my home life anyway

Just heard a discussion about this on Radio 2 , someone was going away and as she was going by car was taking her breadmaker!

Yes. We take tea and coffee in suitcase. Once I took English bacon too! I sometimes take a sachet of cassorole mix when SC. Cup a soup. Travel wash for clothes.

I take Ribena as can't find squash abroad unless you pay the earth for it

My much loved (and missed) MIL was spotted by DH unpacking her deepfat fryer and pressure cooker after her holiday at Butlins ?

I take 3 in one coffee sachets for early morning drinks when at a hotel and some biscuits for munchies on the terrace when I wake in the night.

I don’t take anything like that- if I’m in the UK I can buy anything I want ( I don’t go self- catering if I can help it) and one of the joys of holidaying abroad is trying different foods and leaving home tastes at home I always drink coffee at breakfast on holiday, but never here. The only thing I always pack is my Ipad loaded with books and music, and a pair of headphones.

I take teabags, dried milk and biscuits and a travel kettle when I go to Egypt each year. It’s all inclusive but who wants to wait for their tea until breakfast in the morning.

Decaff coffee for us. Hotels never seem to provide it. Once had the lid fall off a jar of coffee in the case on the way home. It smelled lovely but meant a lot of washing.

Tend to take my own coffee as there's never enough on the courtesy trays for me.

Teabags for me as Lipton’s seem to have a monopoly on tea abroad and I don’t like it!

Absolutely not, never take anything, why would I? If we're self catering, food is surprisingly available in shops locally and if we're in a hotel, we eat what we're offered and find restaurants , delis etc for lunch. We don't drink tea, eat biscuits or eat/drink anything at home we can't live without. I can understand those with strict dietary needs taking things but not otherwise - why clutter up your suitcases?

I take my own decaff teabags and coffeebags. And nuts and nutty bars to nibble.

As most of my "Holidays" are spent visiting my Mum in Yorkshire I either take anything I normally use or buy it up there, I don't expect her to cater for my taste where it varies from hers. As I normally drive myself I tend to "throw in everything except the kitchen sink"

My 'must haves' depend on where I am going and how I am travelling.
A holiday has just been arranged that involves flying, and we are limited to 10kg of luggage each. Needless to say, there will be no 'must 'haves' in our bags.
If travelling by car, the list grows until all available space is filled!
