I look after my dgds twice a week and yesterday I had them and we did our usual arts and crafts. I've got loads of ribbons and glue and we just cut out pictures from magazine and stick them down. Keep them entertained for ages.
I let them use my small (adult) scissors but I'm always at the table with them when they're using them. They are 3 and a half and 5. They're very confident and I can see the 3.5 year old has got better at using them over the past few months. At no point are they in danger that I can see - they don't run around with them. But my daughter came to pick the girls up yesterday and got very carried away by how dangerous it was allowing them to have scissors and I need to be more responsible.
What do you think? I hate the plastic kids' scissors because I think they're a con and kids are perfectly capable of learning to use proper things if done safely.
