Noura is a young Sudanese girl who when 16 refused a forced marriage, ran away to live with her aunt and finish her education. When she was 19 her family contacted her saying the marriage was cancelled and she should return home, which she did only to find she had been tricked. She was forced to marry but refused to consummate the marriage. Her "husband" raped her whilst his relatives held her down. He tried to rape her again the following day, threatening her with a knife, in the struggle she stabbed and killed him. She has now been found guilty of murder and has been sentenced to hang. Her family have abandoned her.
Please sign this petition (sorry I can't do links but if you google Justice of Noura Petition you should be able to find it). The hope is that with sufficient international protest this gross injustice will be stopped.
