OH found a police warrant card and badge yesterday. Being a good citizen he spent ages trying to find the nearest police station only to discover it had recently closed down. He continued on his journey to work thinking he’d hand it into the station in that town. It was also closed. As he was late for a meeting he emailed the county force to let them know. Hours later he came back to his desk and hadn’t had a reply. So he rang 101. After a lot of to-ing and fro-zing it was agreed he’d bring it home and someone would collect it. He’s still waiting.
I hadn’t realised how thin on the ground the police are these days. I was brought up in London where there were stations on every high street and you tripped over policemen. Somehow it feels wrong but I suppose it’s pragmatic not to waste money by keeping stations open just to have a presence.
Where Is Greta Thunberg These Days?
Unbearable grief compounded by our adult children’s reactions
