One of my days off from work, nothing much planned, but the alarm clock will be switched off, so in theory left to wake as and when!
Still feeling deprived from that lost hour.
However, the reality is, Mr P's alarm will go off at 4.30
, and even though he tries not to disturb me, the floor creaks, and I will hear the shower go on. I do my best to go back to sleep, although it's really only dozing.
He sets off around 6.15, gives me a kiss before he goes, and gives Minnie (who usually on the end of bed) a quick stroke.
Oliver Sprout is by now on the windowsill in the spare room, indulging in a bit of bird watching.
Although sometimes it would seem that our bedroom window still offers better ornitholgical opportunities. If he thinks our window is better, he indicates this by beating seven bells out of the new blind until I step across and raise it enough for him to look out.
Minnie will no doubt want to either gently chew my fingers, or try to initiate an odd "game" that we have temporarily called "mummies and kittens" , we would welcome other suggestions!
It seems to mainly consist of her trying (with great determination) to shove her head between my neck and chin. Once a firm position has been achieved, then of course it is followed by that frantic, rhythmic front paw kneading and double volume purring.
But still, although I might be woken earlier than I would like, I can think of worse awakenings!
Good Morning Monday 10th August 2026

his smiley face is much preferred, it's the damned early start of Mr P that does it!
