Does anyone else find her patronising and irritatingly self congratulatory? Or is it just me?

paddyann Sun 18-Mar-18 20:11:02

ME ,she gets right up my nose ,always has .I dont really rate her as a cook so maybe thats what it is but her very superior attitude irritates me most.I have enjoyed the new Bake off better without her .

Marydoll Sun 18-Mar-18 20:15:12

Ditto!

MissAdventure Sun 18-Mar-18 20:16:43

I don't find her remotely appealing.

Grandma70s Sun 18-Mar-18 20:20:35

I don’t watch cookery programmes very much, but I like what I’ve seen of Mary Berry. She seems elegant and stylish, and looks exactly the way I feel older women should look. I don't think she seems patronising at all.

I liked her programme where she visited stately homes.

gillybob Sun 18-Mar-18 20:30:00

It’s not just you kitty she irritates the hell out of me . Especially now with the false nails and eyelashes !

Bridgeit Sun 18-Mar-18 20:36:24

I agree, but until now I was afraid to say ?

MissAdventure Sun 18-Mar-18 20:37:19

Well, the cat is out of the bag now..

Bridgeit Sun 18-Mar-18 20:40:31

?

Anniebach Sun 18-Mar-18 20:43:12

I don't like cookery programme and the little I have seen of Mary Berry , irritating

Jane10 Sun 18-Mar-18 20:46:08

She always seemed kind on Bake Off. No cheap or nasty comments.

kittylester Sun 18-Mar-18 20:47:05

Phew! I'm glad it's not just me.

1974cookie Sun 18-Mar-18 20:49:02

Give me Queen Delia any day !
Delia's 'One is Fun' cookbook was my saving grace when I was single. I absolutely loved cooking but could not see the point of it just for myself.
This book changed the way that I thought completely and I
have had some absolutely fabulous Solo dinners.
My Hero.

What a relief to be able to ‘come out’ ?

BlueBelle Sun 18-Mar-18 21:19:27

I too don’t like cookery programmes and Mary Berry seems so perfect that she annoys me too I want to see her cake slump in the middle Nigella Lawson has the same effect Too much sugar cream and icing

Mapleleaf Sun 18-Mar-18 21:28:25

Oh, come now, GN's. I think you are being a bit unfair. Her recipes are very good, I find.
She's making a lot of money out of it all, is that the problem, perhaps?!! Of course, Delia isn't ...?

Chewbacca Sun 18-Mar-18 21:30:23

Well.... I was always rather fond of MB until 2 friends of mine happened to be in the same supermarket as her and they said that she was an absolute tartar with a young member of staff. Had them running around like a flea at a fair with demands and not done pleasantly either. I was sooo disappointed! grin

MissAdventure Sun 18-Mar-18 21:36:00

I'm afraid I'm more shallow than that. I just find her too thin. blush

Grannybags Sun 18-Mar-18 21:36:33

That was a brave thing to post kittylester! I agree, I find her irritating too

sodapop Sun 18-Mar-18 21:38:15

Off the pedestal now then. I find her irritating and overly sweet. Have to admit she looks good for her age.

gillybob Sun 18-Mar-18 22:09:46

It’s really nothing to do with how much money she’s making. Perhaps she needs it wink . Like sodapop I find her sickly sweet and that meringue hair , what’s that about? Oh dear I may have overstepped the mark. shock

Anniebach Sun 18-Mar-18 22:24:51

What has money to do with it, i like three of our refuge collectors , one irritates me, I assume they earn the same.

paddyann Sun 18-Mar-18 22:43:48

nothing to do with how much money someone makes ,you can be very wealthy and not look down your nose at other folk .

annodomini Sun 18-Mar-18 22:48:31

I've been pleasantly surprised at Bake-off without MB. Prue Leith is more like a human being. MB's cakes are full of cream and sugar. Does she ever bake anything healthy? And does she eat her own creations? Not by the look of her!
