Early discharge after c section

Many congratulations to you and your family
It is quite usual to send mums home that quickly after a c section - whether it's a good idea I really wouldn't like to say

No idea but congratulations. Maybe these days a C section is much less invasive than it used to be? Lots of operations are.

My daughters friend had a op in the morning and was home the same (or maybe next) day.
I think it seems way too soon
I could barely walk for about a month!

As long as she’s got help she ll be better off at home with her baby and out of the chance to pick infections up
i m sure she’s been told what she can and can’t do and she needs to go with it, but it sounds as if she s got plenty of help around Do they still send community nurses in to check in the first few weeks or has that service gone now ?

As long as she has help I’sure she will be fine.

She's just got home. I'm sure she will manage as she's very capable and I've said I'm around if they need me. Her partner taking time off work to start with and then I will help out if she needs me.
Not sure if she gets community nurse. She has to inject herself daily with blood thinners and change dressings.
She's very happy to be home.

Congratulations a first grandchild is very special. Your daughter should have a midwife visit her at home for 10 days. I would have thought they would change her dressing for her, not expect her to do it herself. DD1 was discharged from hospital after planned Caesarian after 3 days for twins. She was glad to be home as she was breast feeding and starving. Her post birth care was awful and I was glad to see her home.

My daughters post natal care had a lot to be desired. We took food in for them last night as they were both starving. My daughter also wants to breast feed and was struggling on her own as the staff were just too busy to spend time with her. Shame after the excellent care given earlier in her delivery.

Thanks janeainsworth. My daughter does belong to a NCT group and I will mention it to her if she doesn't get the hang of breast feeding now she's home.

Your bum barely touches the bed these days before you are shunted out the door! Sometimes a good thing with all the hospital bugs about.

Congratulations! It's a very exciting time. I've just had a new grandchild too.

Discharge within 24hrs is standard after a CS where my GC was born, and 6hrs for a normal delivery. It cuts down on infections, apparently.

DIL was out the next day too, after a very uncomfortable night with one midwife on duty trying to do her best for all the new mums. That was a few years ago now and I don't think things have changed that much.
If all is well your DD will be better at home with some tlc.

She will need some help as she won't be able to lift anything.
