Have just returned home from a swim and gym session this morning . I've had really bad sciatica since Novemeber last year and i was given medication which really did nothing to ease the pain.Couldnt walk or stand, sit or lie without discomfort. My GP referred me for an exercise class at local lesiure centre back in December but I had to wait till last week to start after being assessed the week before. Trying to get into NHS physio was a no go due to length of waiting time. I can not believe the difference two sessions have made along with doing the floor exercises they gave me i have also been swimming too.I am now since yesterday medication free walking more upright, can sit and lie without pain and walk much better. The young girl who looks after me at the gym said i just needed to stretch the muscles in the back of the affected leg and boy did it hurt to start with but i am reaping the benefits now. I feel so good and positive that i will be back to normal for the summer. So anyone with sciatica please give it a try, under supervision of course, it is so worth it not to be taking painkillers all the time which actually didnt do anything.!!!

Well done! Keep up the good work. It was obviously worth the wait.

A neighbour is crippled with sciatica, so I will tell her about your experience. I am so pleased for you. Pain wears you down!

I can empathize.Sciatica is a really debilitating pain.Physio helped mine and though I still get it occasionally in bed it is nothing like it was and will go if I exercise it. Glad you are not in pain now.
