Favourite room.

Love the conservatory. Lovely squashy sofa and heater makes it somewhere to sit all year around, and this time of year it is lovely to sit in the sunshine when there is any.

I'm not in love with any part of my house. This is because it is east facing and dark in the winter. If I had a favourite room, it would be the sitting room (lounge) as it has a log burner and lovely comfy sofas. We hadn't much time when looking for a house and this one was in our price range, and in the area we wanted to be. DH viewed it by himself as I was working. I didn't get to look inside until we moved in!

kitty I love your kitchen and window seat too and in fact your whole house - can I come and live with you?

I like our house but haven't got a n emotional attachement to it. The conservatory is nice when its warm and we have a nice concert on the Sonos. Drinking wine in there is nice (see other thread about my appalling drinking habits).

My favourite room WILL be the orangery when it’s finished . I’ll be able to sit in their in my new comfy chair looking out across the garden to the fields and listen to the birds !!

Real luxury as our old house backed onto a main road and was alongside a railway track :-)

I love my living room and always sit in the same corner with all my treasures around me. My laptop, of course, my knitting, the phone, my diary, my notebook, all my pens, my calendar (The Mare and Foal Sanctuary send me a delightful one every year) and lots more of my bits and pieces. I hasten to add that I have shelf unit beside me and everything is tidy and ship shape!! But my children do call it my nest

My lounge in the holiday house, South West facing with two huge picture windows overlooking the Scottish hills.
Wood burning stove keeps it very cosy whilst looking across the snowy landscape. Which is what I’m doing now.

I love our study, book and paper lined, a big double desk in the centre, DH one side, me the other. A settee in the bay window and a big fireplace, shelved and lined with things that do not go on shelves, board games, photo albums and the like. It has a wood floors with two red oriental rugs that used to belong to my parents.

Our central heating serviceman loves it! He says it his ambition to have a room like it in his house. We spend more time in the study than in the living room.

I`ve recently had a new kitchen, so that is my current favourite room, but am soon to have my bedroom redecorated, recarpeted and refurnished, so that will probably become my favourite when completed.

I can tell you which is my most unfavourite and that is my bedroom.
We had it fitted by Sharps, several years ago, the worst £3000 we ever spent.
As soon as I walked in when it was finished I hated it.
I have put up with it for so long it will now stay for ever and the full height, full wall length wardrobes ( 8 doors) with full length hanging , half length hanging and shelves hold and hide so much, I would miss the space, but an eyesore they are.
My favourite is the lounge when all the table lamps are on in the evening and it is so cosy.

I hate my house. I helped decorate the S.O's holiday house the other year and I love it so much as we completely changed it. Whereas my own home is divorced woman's house held together with gaffer tape. 1970's box. I do, however, like my bathroom which we decorated many years ago; white bath etc white tiles; blue tile going round the middle and a different colour paint [paler blue]above the tiles [will change that to grey at some point; currently blue]. Both of my children have decorated their own bathrooms in a similar way, so it has stood the test of time. I do need to do something about my own house, though; in fact I'm going to ask for help, colour wise on another thread. I can't change anything, but I can paint things in different colours.

My house is so tiny that most of my activities take place in the living room which also contains the dining table.
In the summer my favourite part of my home is the patio and garden!

As we have gone round the house getting all the rooms done I have fallen in love with each of them again. I love my kitchen and I love the little bedroom, beautiful views over the fields, as it's just been redone cos of fallen in ceiling, so now new from top to bottom with computer and shelves big and deep for all photo albums, house files etc, massive map of world on the wall. So many things I have wanted to hand for so long.

I like this house but I dont love it,it was an ordinary 4 bed detached when we bought it 28 years ago and its been changed beyond recognition.Its much more my taste now but still doesn't compare favouably to the last house which I loved.We needed and extra room and OH bought this one while out for a run one Sunday morning,I hated it for a long time ,now we've made friends .I like my kitchen best33 feet long with kitchen at one end ,dining at the other and a nice seating area inbetween where everybody congregates while I cook ,its a great entertaining space .White walls ,tartan curtains and blue kitchen units make it cosy as well as functional .I'll miss it when/if we move ,but I've been looking for a new home for a while

Tegan mid century (I know that is generally 50 & 60s but I think can also be early 70s ) is back in fashion.
As your house is 1970's why not go with it Check out the on line magazines such as House beautiful.

My DH cousin had to clear out her loft due to moving house.she came across a table her DH had made in the seventies.
It was a piece if lovely oak with angled legs which are back in vogue.
Its takes pride of place in her new modern apartment and looks great.
Maybe you have some forgotten objects in your loft.

As we live miles from the sea it still gives me a coastal feel.
I can sit for hours just watching the birds and squirrel on the feeders.

Although I love the look of our sitting room and people always say how pretty it is I don’t ‘love’ to be in as it’s a bit dark. The room I enjoy the most is our conservatory, I can spy on the birds, look at the trees and generally relax.

My flat is square, very 70s and boxy. The plus side is it has lots of storage space. I just go with the flow and keep it looking quite tasteless.
Its a far cry from the little beamed cottage I think I should live in.
Lots of people think my flat is quite quirky though. (Maybe they're just polite!)

I always wanted to live in a little cottage, too. That's why I tried to turn my 'box' into something it wasn't. And, of course, all the retro furniture that's now fashionable [as Cherrytree pointed out] would really suit it, but I can't afford to change it, now.

You could probably fiddle around with the things you've got, if you fancy having a project.. or two?

Tegan you could have had my retro bedroom furniture as I am heartily sick of it and was thinking of getting a Sharp's bedroom fitted.

However, annsixty has just put me off doing that, so I'm sorry, you can't have my old furniture!

I'm going to Miss Adventure but I'm terrible at making decisions these days as to what colour to use.

There's so much choice, colour wise! I've been magnolia for about 20 years, just to be on the safe side.

My house is very close to the sea so my main (family) room is done in a coastal theme . Soft greys, blues, white and putty. It is the only room with access to the garden and has a small sofa and my dining table so we spend most of our time in there. My second favourite room is my bedroom which is also done in shades of blue and white. It’s very calming and relaxing and I often sit up there in my chair reading and listening to music.

I like our bedroom for its uninterrupted views over fields and woods, but my favourite room is the conservatory. I love the light and space; I can watch the birds, listen to music, get away from the tv and it is big enough for the family to congregate when they come.
