Walking Hattie before bedtime I meet the other dogs and their humans round the village plus the occasional old codger on his way home from the pub.
I generally say a vague” Good evening” as I am rubbish at recognising people in the dark, and in any case may know the dog’s name but not the owner’s.
So far so good.
Sometimes the response to my “Good evening” to the old codger will be met with “Goodnight” (well, yes he is on his way home) but still.
The greeting that floors me though is the ubiquitous “All right?” (Or “awrrrigh’)
There isn’t much time to gabble out any more than “Fine and you? “ before they are the other side of the village green., and that is assuming I am quick off the mark.
What exactly IS the correct response to “Awrrigh?” anyway?
