I have recently been listening to some relaxation meditation words/music/sounds to help me through a steessful time. They have helped me get back to sleep at night and generally calm down a bit.

Does anyone else do similar ? Can you make any recommendations ?

The Shipping Forecast music “ Sailing By “does it for me. I rarely make it to the end. ??

There are a few suggestions on the "anxiety" thread, but I dont want to steal them and put them here! I was thinking though, that it would be a good idea to condense them into one thread so that people could recommend things which have helped them.

I attended a meditation/mindfulness class through my local u3a. We worked our way through a useful little book - "Mindfulness on the Go" by Padraig o'Morain.

I also find it relaxing to listen to music through headphones - various classical pieces are very calming but funnily eanough I find my 60's album very relaxing, and it lightens my mood too! Exercise is also good - apart from the obvious walk in the woods (especially now that it's autumn), table tennis or other sports are very good for mindfulness as they keep you in the moment!

I will try Sailing by, also I didn’t know till now there was an anxiety thread which I will check out. I will also look on Amazon for ‘Mindfulness on the go’. Thanks all for your suggestions. flowers

I have been ill and have had trouble sleeping. I found an old relaxation/meditastion tape (yes - tape!) and put it on when I was in bed. I was fast asleep when it finished and there was a loud gong! I'd forgotten about that and shot awake wondering where I was.
