Words you don't like, please, ladies?

KIDS - they are baby goats not children - I absolutely hate to hear them being referred to as such.

Yep, both of those. I was once asked to answer some questions prior to testing some new knickers for Tesco home panel. They never arrived, probably because I'd irritated them so much moaning on about their use of the word panties!

Not a word, but the phrase which couples use 'we are pregnant'.. I find it hard to get my head around it. I suppose there are people who dislike 'getting my head around' too, though.

This subject has been done to death over the years and we just come across as grumpy old bats who have nothing better to do that get our knickers in a twist because someone calls us 'guys' or uses some other modern terminology that we 'don't like'.

'Panties' and 'hubby' are both high on my list too. I don't like 'ladies' when used by patronising men (usually men anyway) and particularly when used as the feminine version of 'men'. I'm a woman unless they are gentlemen! (I don't mind it when used as you have done, MissAdventure, as I am becoming mellower with age )

Anya, if your boat is not floating, why get into the water? There are plenty of us these days who seem to be avoiding various threads because they don't appeal to us. Perhaps you could leave those of us who are floating to get on with it.

At a dental appointment, in his lovely Irish accent, a dentist referred to my teeth as "guys". It made me smile, once I'd got out of the chair.
