Anyone else got this horrible bug?

Started like just a bad cold, but the last couple of days I've gone from being really cold and shivering - fingers going white and numb for a bit - to sweating buckets. Had to strip spare bed this morning and wash everything including the pillow - everything wet or damp.

I've had 'proper' flu before, and it's not quite that bad, but have never had anything quite like it. If I'd been anywhere tropical lately I'd think it was a touch of malaria.
Still, marginally better this morning I think.

That sounds miserable, Witzend. I hope you feel much better soon.flowers

My husband came down with it about 3 weeks ago. We did wonder if it was his Rheumatoid Arthritis flaring up but, he didn't have the usual joint pain. It was more general aching all over, sweating and shivering etc.
Get well soon. He shook it off after about 5 days.

I'm on week 3, still totally bunged up, headache and more tired than usual.
Luckily, it hasn't caused my RA to flare and so far, no infection has developed. I find steaming helps the blocked nose/sinus etc. Fed up with it!

I've just given my iPad screen a good clean as I don't want any viruses please.

Witzend Fri 25-Aug-17 14:06:32

Lol Anya! And thanks for all replies - do hope everybody manages to shake it off soon.
Thank goodness Dh shows no signs yet - fingers Xed - and no chance of passing it on to dd and family - they are away for another 9 days and we're going away the day they get back.
I am really cosseting myself for once - loads of hot drinks and lying on the sofa with a good book! I let myself get really tired and run down earlier in the year and ended up with shingles, though it wasn't as bad as some people have it.
I'm usually pretty hardy and don't catch things, or at least shake them off quickly - I know I'm very lucky - so it's a bit annoying to be laid low like this.

MawBroon Fri 25-Aug-17 14:49:24

No, but paw after staphylococcus aureus is now laid low by C. Diff which doesn't seem to be getting any better sad

Poor Paw

Clostridium difficile is a b****r aptly named and will get to people who are already in poor health. I hope he feels better soon.

My little grandson over in NZ has had this sweating fever, the other one has had a tummy bug and his mum had it last weekend. Must be a worldwide bug going round. Hope you feel better soon flowers

Hope you are feeling better today Witzend. xx

A bit sweaty last night, but not as bad as before. Definitely on the mend now. Just praying that Dh won't get it - no signs so far thank goodness. Have been sleeping in spare room, not that it's any guarantee.
So thankful not to have passed it to dd, SiL or little DCs - baby grandson has been in hospital 3 times with bronchiolitis but touch wood nothing for a few months so praying he's growing out of it - and thanking heaven they're all safely away in France and have had lovely weather in what can be a very variable area, weather wise.
Wishing you all a lovely and bug-free bank holiday!

Bless you, hope this morniing finds you vastly improved. Keep lounging about with good book and treats, yu need to recover properly.

Witzend Sat 26-Aug-17 09:38:08

Meant to add, do hope paw will be feeling better soon, Mawbroon.

Both DH and I have felt crap under the weather this week, he has cold symptoms and cold sores and I have a dicky tummy and clammy/sweaty. DH gets hot flushes with his medication anyway so it is hard to tell whether this is a new symptom. Thankfully the GC stayed fit, couldn't be doing with tummy bugs too.

crap, meant to cross it out not underline it grin

I felt rough two weeks yesterday. I dialled 111 and the next thing I know it was Saturday afternoon and I was in rhesus in hospital. Apparently I had a dynasty blood infection and was lucky to survive. I started to talk gibberish on the 111 call and they alerted the ambulance who had to get the firemen to break in as by then I was unconscious. Thanks to all the NHS staff who got me back to where I am now. Resting. Resting. Resting

Iam64 Sat 26-Aug-17 15:03:54

Feel stronger soon Marnie

Witzend Sat 26-Aug-17 15:16:27

Goodness, Marnie, thank heaven you called 111 in time! Hope you'll be loads better soon.

MinniesMum Sat 26-Aug-17 16:10:59

My sympathies to all suffering especially Marnie. DH had a cytogram (don't ask!) and somehow the hospital managed to give him E coli. 36 hours later he was shaking and shivering and when he started talking nonsense, I rang the paramedics. He was in hospital within an hour being bombarded with antibiotics which gave him acute diarrhoea. Thank goodness he was there and not here! He came home on Wednesday still on pills and takes the last one this evening. Still very tired but I am so relieved to hear him laughing again. I've lost 3lbs this week as I was too wound up and tense to eat properly. I would be useless on my own.

Glad to hear you're feeling better Witzend but sorry about paw. Hope he's better soon Mawbroon.
