Must buy more trousers.......with larger pockets

I've written before on here about stashing my gardening gloves in my knickers and not finding them until my next visit to the loo - the problem being that most of my baggy elasticated waist gardening togs have funny little pockets that don't hold much more than half a packet of seeds.

Peggy the JR likes to chase vehicles that come up the farm road and I'm still trying to train her NOT to Do That!

Dog biscuits are her one weakness so I always venture out on to the borders with a goodly handful then when I hear a tractor approaching I snap one in half. The sound is music to her ears and she sits obediently by my feet waiting for me to toss it into the air for her to catch - which I don't do until the tractor has driven past our entrance.

Clever bit of dog training, eh? Only problem is that this morning's baggy old faithfuls had holes in the pockets so I stuffed the necessary doggy treats down my cleavage and as we're always advised to wear properly fitted bras it was job done!!!

Worked a treat (sorry) until the postman reversed down the drive just as I reached down my front and produced a handful of mini gravy bones!!

The last postman was quite used to my antics having seen me water my legs trying to get a two handed grip on a heavy can but this one is new.

I'm expecting a dangerous dog and mad woman notification to be shoved through the letter box in the not too distant future. blush

I use my bra like an inside pocket, loose change, lippy......

jollyg Fri 04-Aug-17 13:16:21

When changing money in Forex. The bra was an ideal stashing place.

Tho in a hot sweaty place, it had to be removed PDQ

merlot I'm spitting coffee gringrin

DD shoves her phone down her bra as do lots of people I believe, can't say I've ever 'stored' anything there apart from a tissue.

kittylester Fri 04-Aug-17 14:05:50

Merlot grin

DD3 stores her phone in her bra too. My Nan used to store everything in her bra; money, handkerchief, lipstick, comb, hair pins. Admittedly, there was plenty of room!

merlotgran Fri 04-Aug-17 14:12:29

Blimey, kitty. Comb AND hairpins?

Dog biscuits don't seem such a bad option after all even if I'm still finding crumbs. grin

You need some combat trousers, the ones with all the pockets in the legs, and reinforced knees.

merlotgran Fri 04-Aug-17 15:13:58

Good idea, hildajenniJ. I wonder if they make them with reinforced knees that catapult you back into a standing position. grin

Maranta Fri 04-Aug-17 16:27:44

I like combat trousers with lots of pockets in them but it is difficult to find them for women these days. They were all the rage once. I don't want them with wide legs, stylish ones if that's possible. Anyone know where to get them?

My bra is often lined with dog poo bags......... whichmight explain my single status..................

My granny used to wear bloomers. They were down to her knees. She stored hankies etc., in the leg of her drawers! Imagine my embarrassment as a child, when I brought friends into our garden to play, and grannies bloomers were hanging on the clothesline for all to see.

GrandmaMoira Sat 05-Aug-17 09:45:07

I've never thought of storing anything in my bra, there's no room. I'm already an E cup - it would have to be pretty large to make room for other stuff.

merlotgran Sat 05-Aug-17 09:48:13

Aunty Mary had a canary
Up the leg of her drawers,
It departed when she f***ed,
To a round of applause.

I have a couple of aprons with big pockets on the front. They are brilliant for stashing all your gardening/cleaning/dog-walking gear.
Not very smart, but I for one don't give a monkey's chuckle!

JaneD3 Sat 05-Aug-17 11:19:52

My mum used to wear a watch with an elastic strap to hold her hanky. My kids love the fact that she wore it after the watch stopped working "because it was useful" grin

grandMattie Sat 05-Aug-17 11:54:18

My mother used to store her [many] keys, her ciggies, lighter and a hankie! She would then spend ages patting herself to find whichever it was she needed/wanted...
I just keep a tissue, [or notes when needed] train tickets, a debit card or whatever is needed at the time.
We have had some funny looks. I wonder why? hmm

When I read the thread title I though you must be confessing to being a shoplifter merlot grin

I often bung stuff in an apron with large pockets. The one thing which I often mislay is my mobile phone and I regularly drive myself berserk wondering where the devil I left it last - stomping out of the living room, into the kitchen, little loo downstairs, upstairs to the ironing board, bedroom, larger loo, blimey - and back down again. Check all surfaces, pockets. Sometimes I have to phone myself and listen out for the ring tone. It can't be just me.

It's a wonder the post man didn't crash his van.

Diggingdoris Sat 05-Aug-17 23:33:30

If I'm wearing something without pockets I also use my bra when I take the dog for a walk. Door key in one cup, doggy bag in the other!

merlotgran Sat 05-Aug-17 23:50:49

I'd like to think that if I fell over in the garden the two JRs would bark, Lassie style, and attract attention to my plight.

Far more likely there'd be a race to dive down my front and snaffle the biscuits.

My DM once smuggled a travelling alarm clock down her cleavage. Glad it didn't go off when went through Customs!

Gaggi3 Sun 06-Aug-17 08:28:23

Rohan walking trousers have capacious pockets or you could wear a bum bag.

chicken Sun 06-Aug-17 08:32:46

I've hatched several cracked eggs, rescued from under the broody hen, down my bra, also revived chilled and near dead chicks in the same way!
