Big day ahead - off to London to see DS1 in a fringe theatre production. Going early - shopping first to take some goodies up - driving to south London and thankfully able to park for free by his flat. After an early lunch we will travel in by train / tube. Matinee at 2:30 - a long play lasting over 3 hours, then a brief catch up again before wending our way back. We will probably get home at about 9 if travelling is straight-forward. I am really looking forward to it, but know that I will be well worn by the time we get back home! Makes me think of all those younger days when we took times like this in our stride and still had some energy to spare! Now I feel it is on ration!!!
nowadays when faced with a day like you describe, I'd be looking for an affordable overnight room. When plans are made, the family know to build in what I call a "buffer zone" - time to recharge my batteries.
