Doorstep Selling

We have a large family living near us. Recently the children have been selling small hand made items door to door. The price seems to be about £1.00 per item. I do not like/want the items offered but feel mean if I don't buy. Conversely I don't like feeling obliged to buy!
Just wondering if I'm being an old meanie?

You are not obliged to buy if you don't want to give a pound to children who are probably proud if their crafts

Well good for them for being so enterprising! smile

TBH I would buy the odd item - as long as they're polite and accept it when you do say no thanks.

My grandson washed neighbours' cars for a charity - I don't think any of the cars really needed a wash but the kindly neighbours wanted to encourage and support local children in their endeavours.

I would also buy the odd thing but not make a habit of it and be strong when you say no I don't need anything else thank you.
