Funny words children invent

I think every family has huggles these days.

When DGD was aged two, she used to greet people with "Hello, body one!".

Love the 'strangled eggs'

One of my daughters always referred to eyebrows as 'eyesprouts'
Quite apt if you think about it.

Toddler GS accidentally landed on a painful part of his DF who explained the problem. GS solemnly told everyone that he mustn't jump on Daddy's besticles!

Skelelators were more fun than escalators and pointing excitedly to the sky to spot mairmalanes was pretty good too!

My daughter had heard "bunny stairs" for bannisters and used it for quite a while.
My son used Amiloos for animals until he got it right.

DGS1 Had "oblibs" for olives.

DS2 called the TV 'the paycoo' because he watched Playschool on it. He called the car the 'taptin' because we used to say 'let'get you strapped in'.

DGD recently told me that I have 'gimassive' ears.

Many years ago when Sarah Kennedy was on the Radio Two breakfast slot she told a story where a little girl swore using the word Bumocks. This was adopted in our family and has been in use ever since.

My daughter used to say Hostiple and 40 years later we are still saying it

When I was little i used to call the radio The Meemic (music) because you couls hear music on it. My grandparents' TV was the Man Meemic because you could see the man and hear the music. A dog was a Bow wow and a cat was a Meow - but a pekinese was a Meeow Bow wow

Sorry Swanny I didn't notice the blue

When my daughter was little we always took an 'under Bella' when it rained.

Whenever there was an unpleasant smell in the air, her GF would say, Phew, Eau de Cologne. At the zoo an elephant created quite a smell and a little voice chirped up, Phew! Oggly collogogly.

"Feel-ups" - how you feel when you have just woken up. As in "I've got the feel-ups."

My daughter used to call Dr Who Dr Hoover.

My friends little boy told her he had been poorly at school, and had to go to the megalty room.

GD2 loved to sing Twinkle, Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star. It took us a while to figure out why she called stars"hawai" until age 2+.

We had 'punched eggs' and peas as a tea time favourite for a while and for some reason my nephew calls cereals 'Gerald' but we have no idea why.

Oh and we had a 'head mystery' in charge of her new school.

When my daughter was 2 she saw vapour trails across the sky and immediately called it a sky pencil, still used in the family today.

We still have deppy die (shepherds pie) thirty years after one of my nieces coined it.

We had Cucumbuggers (cucumbers), Roman Catholics (Roman numerals on a new watch) and Counterlator (calculator). Happy days :-)

One of our sons used to call butterfles Flutterbyes and it stuck.

Putter pea was a favourite for peanut butter from my DS and scrim scream wiper for windscreen wipers. My eldest DGD stumped us with broccoli lights until we realised she meant twinkly lights
