I've lost the thread about TV providers

We have just gone on to BT TV as well as having broadband and phone with them. We get a You View box which records as well. Only had it a fortnight, no problems so far. We paid extra to get a BT engineer in to set it up, much easier on the blood pressure. They can set it up in a second room too. Not sure if it gets Sky Arts. DH watches a lot of sport and there is so little on terrestrial nowadays. I think it will prove to be very expensive but he is worth it usually! Sorry, cannot point you in the direction of the other thread but have a vague idea WB has BT too, could try searching that.

I dispensed with Sky months ago. I bought a Freesat box, and we now have a smart TV. It provides everything we need. We have Netflix and Amazon TV for films, box sets etc. It's all we need as my husband is not the least bit interested in sport. It's all so much easier on the pocket too.

As I couldn't justify the price of having Sky but desperately wanted Sport, especially tennis, we bought a Nowtv Box and only pay for sport for a week or a month at a time. In addition I downloaded Eurosport on my IPad and bought a one year subscription on special offer for £19.99. Admittedly I can't record anything.

I love my BT YouView box. Costs £5 pcm and records as well as gives access to all the i players. I set it up myself and I'm definitely not techy!

We are currently on Sky but also seem to pay huge amounts for a service that seems to disappear whenever it's rainy/sunny/windy or just when it feels like it. Unfortunately where we live there is no cable, and like you*kitty*, sport is a must for DH, well at least the cricket is. If there is an alternative, I'd also love to know what it is!

Our sky is mostly fine but we are currently paying over £80 per month. The problem is that we have to have the highest subscription to get the sport - which I'd like to point out is nothing to do with me. DH likes football and a lot of that is on BT now.

We currently have to pay for films which we rarely watch and that seems very silly.

We have the Sky Sports (not BT) and the family package as son like Discovery, £42 a month. We told them to disconnect last time contract was due for renewal and they wanted to charge over £70. Couple of days later they phoned with "an offer", so annoying when you have to go through all the hassle. We may rethink if they lose Eurosport (and Discovery) as is threatened, the motorcycling would be a great loss.
Stopped the HD as not needed but charged for, don't need films.

Sky would be fine, and I wouldn't mind paying if you could choose your own package.

Yes we have BT TV, the mid range package which is £10 a month. We are very satisfied with the way the system works. BUT we have been having some technical problems, BT replaced our box and it has improved, it appears to be weather related, high pressure/fog. I guess we should really get an outside aerial, but as it is now OK 95% of the time and only breaks up on a couple of lesser channels we will stick with what we have. Sky is our only alternative, but very expensive and still suffers with weather problems.

We rarely watch anything live, almost always recorded or on catchup etc, so the 600hrs recording is a boon.

If you have everything with BT, it is worth trying to negotiate a deal.

If you can get it, also consider Virgin.

We have the phone wifi and. TiVo box with 3 channel recording facilities and sky sports package not sure of the actual tv package. I budget £100 per month which does seem a lot. I resent paying so much and keep thinking I need to get my act together and see if I get get stuff cheaper.

Of course, if you only want basic Freesat or Freeview channels, you can simply buy a recorder, which start from £50.
