I know my doctor is busy and under pressure from all sides but I sometimes wonder if he has ever really looked at me or listened.
At a recent visit we were talked about doing more exercise.
My mobility is compromised, I walk with a stick and standing for more than a minute or so causes me great pain. I have a mobility scooter for getting around and a hoist in my car for taking it where ever I go.
I swim twice a week, managing around the 40 lengths in 40 mins most times and swim with my little grandsons on two other days ( which involves rather more walking than swimming but apparent,y I'm an excellent Optimus Prime !).
My GP suggested an excellent choice of exercise would be to go up ad down the stairs for 15 mins everyday.
I sat for a moment digesting his suggestion ( bearing in mind I currently do the stairs twice a day, once coming down in the morning and once going up at night and we are looking to move into a bungalow).
I didn't really know how to reply...... he might as well have suggested running up Everest or a few laps round Hyde Park!
Am I mad to think he might have suggested more swimming ? Or Aquacise? Or even maybe an exercise bike ? Or was this this the latest health advice and he was applying a one size fits all reply?
