#Twelfthnight

I thought twelfth night was 6th Jan? At ease bellsisabelle!

Too late. I'm halfway through. House is in a right pickle. Apparently it's 5th January in C of E church and 6th in some other churches. It's the 5th though, when I count it on my fingers.

Oh no! Now I might have to but we've got people coming in later and the decorations cover a multitude of crap sins.

I took mine down this morning , it wasn't too hard thanks to the pre-decorated pop up tree we bought last year it takes seconds to dismantle and it folds down into its box. Taking all the cards down and removing the white tac takes longer but I like to reread the little messages in them before recycling .
It was the dusting and vacuuming that took the time, OH has a bit of cough and stayed in bed till 11 just about when I was finishing downstairs he kept saying oh leave it till I'm feeling better but NO I want to do it today. I'll leave all the boxes for him to lift back up into the loft when he's feeling better

It's the 6th if you don't count Christmas. Having chuntered about people putting them up too early and taking them down too early, ours came down on 2nd - it's been a funny time!

January 6th is Epiphany, traditionally the day on which the three kings arrived to visit the baby Jesus. Epiphany is Twelfth Night, so I reckon I have until tomorrow to clear the cards and the tree.

Ah the advantage of being a miserable old so* and not putting any up!!!

Oh! It's tomorrow.
I have spent the morning clearing up and washing the guest bedding. I will get OH to get the boxes down later when he gets back. I really need a sit down. Why don't I leave them up all year and save time? Does it matter?

I couldn't wait to get mine down and would have quite happily taken the tree down on Christmas night if I could have, even though it was the first (and best) real tree that I have ever had and I was so happy with it when we put it up. Once "the day" is finished, it's finished.

My tree went on Monday after the grandchildren left. Even if they weren't here I would leave it up until New Year's Day, as I consider that week part of the Xmas Season.

After New Year's Day it looks rudundant!

All put away! I took the last ones down this morning, and DS packed the tree away in its box and put it away until next Christmas. Doesn't the house look bare now?

I took my real tree and decorations down on New Years Day.

The tree is now in my garden and covered in fat balls for the birds.

Yes, it does look bare, apart from the dust and tree needles. Bought one of these yesterday to cheer the chores up.

Lovely idea about putting the fatballs on tree carer. Will do that tomorrow.

I think there is a niche market for someone to get a great little seasonal business taking down Christmas decorations !!

I'd pay!!

It's my least favourite job, and even though we only had half as much as normal up it was still a lot.

Took them down, put them back in the box, dropped the box, a few crunching and cracking sounds I think we'll be buying some more next year. I can't bear to look as there are a few sentimental things in there.

Took ours down on the 30 th, so all away in the plastic boxes i got last year which makes it easy to see whats in each box. Ba humbug i know, but its so nice when the house is back to normal.

I know exactly what you mean Bags. I've already got a brrom cupboard full of them. They fall put when I open the door. I thought a nice red new one would spur me on. #sucker

I seem to have finished. Still got to put all the original "stuff" out again though.
