Hmm!

Something weird is going on! Christmas Eve morning I got up to find the lights in my sitting room on, when I went to bed that night I double checked the lights were off but when I got up Christmas morning they were on! Boxing Day morning a set of lights which I rarely use were on. I did wonder if perhaps I have taken to sleep walking in my old age (!) but discounted that because the alarm rings if there is movement on the ground floor and shows a read out of where the alarm has been tripped. This morning I woke up to find 3 deep scratches on the back of my hand.

I have three theories, 1. I am sleepwalking and resetting the alarm in my sleep, 2. I have a ghost 3. Aliens are trying to abduct me and I am fighting back (hence the scratches!)

Elegran Sun 01-Jan-17 12:46:02

Do you have a cat?

sunseeker Sun 01-Jan-17 12:47:29

No pets Elegran

Elegran Sun 01-Jan-17 12:58:07

Hmmm. Nothing missing? I would get the house wiring checked by a competent electrician and get bolts on the doors and windows. And file my fingernails smoother. Maybe do something different with the alarm?

Greyduster Sun 01-Jan-17 14:06:48

If it were Aliens, sunseeker, I'd think about going. We're making such a bloody mess of the earth that maybe wherever they live can't be all that bad!

I would do what Elegran says sunseeker we often find the lounge lights on and are sure we switched them off ( but obviously didn't.) You scratched yourself during a dream, so cut your nails very short.
If really odd things continue happening, consider having a cctv type monitor in lounge and bedroom ( you can get it set up for you) but only if more than this occurs.
Christmas and New Year can be a stressful time when you live alone.
When you are ready to go to bed, go round switching off the lights and locking doors and say out loud, I am switching this light off ( the only way to insure that you have done it, rather than mean to do it.)

I scratch myself when I'm asleep and don't wake up even though some of the scratches are quite deep so must have hurt when I did them.

wot Sun 01-Jan-17 23:03:52

It's the line of three scratches that would worry me.

BlueBelle Sun 01-Jan-17 23:04:26

I often wake up with scratches and as vampirequeen says (good name) they can be quite red I did only yesterday morning, having three big scratches on my chest
I often wake up to lights on when I am convinced I turned them off and there's only me in the house I also left a tap dripping all night the other night and I m always very careful about turning them right off
So I think we all do things in our sleep and think we have done what we haven't I ve become a big checker in older age too

I once went sleep walking on a local common and woke up, stark naked, under a tree. It was quite a problem to get back home as I had to cross a road that was very busy even at night. Dear God, I must have crossed the damn thing when I was asleep on my way there. I did get home safely and I had carefully left the front door propped open. There was a very confused cat waiting for me. The only worse thing that could have happened would have been to have walked home while still asleep and woken up in the morning with muddy feet.

Ankers Mon 02-Jan-17 05:47:57

no. 1 seems likely to me.
Have you sleptwalked before? Is it a family thing at all?
Are you a bit rattled by something?

Ankers Mon 02-Jan-17 05:48:45

I have sleptwalked too absent, but nothing on your scale! shock

Greyduster Mon 02-Jan-17 09:07:22

sunseeker please forgive me for my flippant response to your post. I used to sleepwalk as a child and it caused my mother much anxiety.

vampirequeen Mon 02-Jan-17 09:24:48

Wow that was an amazing sleepwalking episode. I've never left the house.

Anya Mon 02-Jan-17 09:43:17

Sometimes stress can trigger sleepwalking incidents. Are you under more than usual sunseeker?

grandmaz Mon 02-Jan-17 10:05:50

What a fascinating thread...I hope that the answer soon becomes obvious Sunseeker. I think if it were me I'd be having the wiring checked as others have suggested...maybe also wear some of those cotton gloves to bed - the ones which you put on after applying moisturing cream to your hands at bedtime...at least that way if you are scratching yourself, you can limit the damage. Do keep us posted.

Some funny things have been going on here. My computer was disconnected completely from the internet and I had to do a systems restore to get it back. My ipad screen was locked and would not rotate. My phone had the sound switched off. The bed side lights in our bedroom were both suddenly switched on in the middle of the night. Apart from the lights everything happened during the day. I have no explanation for any of these things.

sunseeker Mon 02-Jan-17 10:10:42

Thanks for all the replies. No history of sleepwalking for me or anyone in the family. Yes, I have been under lot of stress lately so maybe sleepwalking is the answer. No more incidents so hopefully it was a temporary thing.

Greyduster - I have no problem with your post - I have taken the whole episode quite lightly myself, although if it happens again I may be a bit more serious about it.

We had a problem with house lights turning themselves on even when we were on holiday, turns out that next doors mower and lightning were activating our remote control dimmer switches. My friend has this problem and can't get to the bottom of it, the light in her deceased son's bedroom switches itself on and oddly battery operated candles light themselves. I can understand power surges and interference making lights malfunction but no answer to battery operated candles switching on.

I don't want to frighten people but weird things happened to me in my house--things missing and misplaced. I thought I was losing my marbles and it wasn't until a lovely electrician fixing something unrelated solved the problems. I asked him why my outside light came on whenever I went upstairs to bed.
He showed me that there was a small gap at the side of my curtains which gave access to a mirror by the door giving a full view of my sitting room. I had a Peeping Tom who activated the light when he moved. Further to that I discovered that he had access to my house--he was also a stalker--- and had even used my bathroom.
It had been happening for years--he was a "respected " neighbour-- and it was such a distressing time in my life. I had a full time job then and thought I was just stressed and imagining these happenings.I eventually moved.
There are many sick people around-- even the most respectable ones. My advice is to always trust your instinct and if you are not sure of anything get in touch with the support network for anyone who thinks they are being stalked. It is now recognised as a crime and the police have to respond.
Just typing this brings back memories and makes me anxious!

DH and I used to experience some very useful phenomena (he's a natural psychic, I was just beginning Developmenr classes). We used to find that every night, when we'd both been downstairs all evening the electric blanket was lovely and warm at bedtime and in the mornings I would go down to find the kettle freshly boiled, Most of the time, very useful except when we were staying with a friend a couple of hundreds of miles from home when we were simultaneously aware of the electric blanket being on and had to remotely switch it off psychically (because of distance from home, the most scary incident). However, from about 3 months DS took after dad - hated being put to bed, would switch on lights, throw heavy furniture around room and on one memorable night, we found him levitating a foot off his cot. That said, sunseeker, if it does start recurring, having checked all physical/psychological causes, would suggest that you look into psychic development classes, where you will be taught psychic protection.

Being a total wet blanket here: Am I alone in finding some of these posts a bit weird?
