I have only ever managed to keep one new year's resolution - to always have fresh flowers in the hall - but I do always go through my herbs and spices and throw away and replace all the out of date ones.

St Delia said she does it so it must be a good idea! The drawback is cleaning the sticky shelf!!

Do you do anything specific at the turn of the year?

Always have a chinese takeaway near or on New Years Eve.
This is the first year not done it. Everything has been different this christmas for a number of reasons. I currently feel that we are on about the 4th day after christmas, so I reckon that around about next tuesday will be the right time for the takeaway!

I like to have an empty linen basket and all bills paid before new year. I've failed on the former but succeeded on the bills. I have a pile of stone setts( sort of northeast square cobble stones ) in my garden which I planned to get rid of for my last NYR. Failed dismally on that too. This year I will finish all my quilts that I've started. Optimistic emoji needed.

Oh yes kitty I turn out the fridge and cook a lovely meal from fresh (Roast Beef today) I change the bed linen, take down the decs then have a lovely bath and make up, wearing something pretty. We start the New Year in style and hope I think (even though we have got colds best to keep positive they only last a few days).

I was hoping to take down the decs but DH is dead against it until Twelfth Night. I too want to go through my spices; clear out the nappies [clean, I hasten to add but in open packets] that are not going to be used - or so I'm led to believe!; clear out under the kitchen sink - goodness knows what's lurking in there; sort out my knitting stuff and finish off some little toys that I started. Problem is I'm easily distracted..........

We always have a roast on N Y day. Today I'm cooking leg of lamb. It will be accompanied by a nice bottle of wine and we will use up the crackers.
The decs will come down tomorrow.
I don't make resolutions.
