Morrisons Xmas order arghhh!

Jayanna9040 you were unlucky- I had my Morrisons on line shop delivered on Wednesday and there were no substitutions and everything with the exception of carrots, had a reasonable use by date.

Back home. Hooray for Marks and Spencer! Won't do Morrisons again - ever!!!!!!!!

Tesco sent me several complicated messages about the turkey crown I had ordered and in the end I finished up with 4 for the price of one!!! They are in my freezer.

Apart from use by dates, I have never had a substitution from Morrisons but they did run out of loo rolls recently which I could not believe.

My friend went, early last Christmas Eve to Marks and Spencer,to pick up her very substantial order.She was having all her family over for Christmas.
It hadn't arrived! It was in Glasgow over two hundred mikes away! A member of staff had ticked the wrong box on the order. Panic stations!!
Lots of substitutions had to be made and it became very stressful.
At the end of the day though Marks did the best they could in the circumstances and a good Christmas was had by all.
Some times the best laid plans go astray.

DH was at Morrisons first thing and said that everything was in stock. I only once ordered from M&S and it was a disaster, they even gave my turkey to someone else. I clear my freezer and start the week before Christmas stocking it with all that we need, I would never queue in a store for food.

Think it was the nonchalance with which they texted me."Hi, just to let you know........They certainly haven't made any effort to replace the missing items with anything. Oh and here is your delivery slot but we might be changing at it any time today depending on how our deliveries go........

Daughter in law had her Sainsburys delivery last night. She'd ordered small free range bronze turkey. What did they provide ? Large frozen turkey! The order was placed weeks ago, you'd think they'd know how many free range they'd need. My son and daughter in law must be easy going I'd have hit the roof! She ended up going to another supermarket 9pm last night to get one. The most important part of Christmas dinner and Sainsburys can't get it right. What's the point in ordering online with them?

I am assuming that she handed it back to the delivery man? I would not have liked his job yesterday if that is the way that Sainsburys carried on. I gave up doing on line shopping with them when they left off 11 items, no explanation or substitutions. When I rang to complain I was told that the picker had a nervous breakdown. I am afraid that I was not sympathetic.

I just Don't trust the big stores enough to order in advance for last minute delivery. I always think they will miss out something or give me poor quality veg etc. This year I went to M and S on the 19 th and got exactly the size of turkey crown ( free range and organic) I wanted. All the Pigs in blankets, stuffing prepared and in the freezer so all I did yesterday was go to the supermarket and get the fresh veg, bread and milk. In fact all the sprouts at the first one were awful but I was able to get nice fresh ones somewhere else. Today (Xmas Eve) I have been home with my feet up!

I have to give top marks to Tesco. Everything present and correct. no substitutions and everything had long dates.

OK I'll come clean - I've never ever had a shop delivery. Mind you, no choice up here in my mountains lol.

But Jayanna, what was missing I wonder? I think that if a couple of things were missing I'd just do without and work around it, substitute and make do- a lot easier than heading out to the shops on Xmas eve.

Apparently there have been lots of cock ups with Amazon not delivering on time too. One young friend was not happy last night about it on FB, and lots of others piled in with same complaint and panic.

There's no way I d leave it to a last minute delivery everything chosen and bought in the fridges and freezers weeks ago or if I wanted free range I d pick up myself the day before wouldn't trust no one else at this time of year

I order Morrisons every week but to be on the safe side, Wednesday evening this week instead of Friday. No problems. The few substitutions I have ever had were usually better quality or larger packs. Only once when some bags were not delivered I complained. I had a refund and a £10 courtesy voucher. Excellent service and the delivery drivers are lovely.

I went shopping for the last things which needed to be fresh, about 9 am on Christmas eve. No crowds, no queues, got everything I wanted, everyone was in a good mood. Supermarkets don't do deliveries here.

WOW Jacky, where do you live ?. We were in the Scottish Highlands in the middle of nowhere and the Supermarkets still delivered.

I did have to laugh once when Tesco failed to deliver my 4 bottles of red wine, because they had "no suitable alternatives"! Other than that they've been great, and their customer service is excellent.

Thought of us all last evening when watching (again!) The Good Life episode in which the Leadbetter's Christmas was cancelled! One of the best IMO.

I had my S/bury delivery on Wednesday rather than Friday last week - just in case. Only one jar of chutney substituted but I didn't like that one so sent it back. However they had managed to charge me 4 times for carrier bags but had reimbursed that and the chutney by Saturday. No complaints from me.
