12 days til Christmas and i spotted creme eggs for sale yesterday. Even the co-op had hot cross buns in the reduced basket. Why on earth do the retail sector do this to us poor souls who haven't even finished or in some cases started our Christmas shopping ?

Yuk they are the most disgusting chocolate sweets. Horribly sickly.

A good bar of dark chocolate gingers are another matter.

Mumsy Wed 14-Dec-16 08:24:17

wont be long and we will all be celebrating easter and xmas together!!

downtoearth Wed 14-Dec-16 08:38:08

My birthday is December 29th yay now I can have Christmas birthday Easter new year all in one weektchhmm

tiggypiro Wed 14-Dec-16 09:00:42

Seriously I would like to know if anyone sees proper Easter Eggs (not the yukky creme eggs) in the shops before 23rd Jan. I'm off to Beijing again and DD always likes me to take easter Eggs as they are either unobtainable or VERY expensive there.

I just had toasted hot x buns for breakfast ? I bought them as they were reduced, but thought I had picked up Tea Cakes confused , anyway, they were delicious.

Yes I spotted an entire new creme egg/mini egg display yesterday

grandMattie Wed 14-Dec-16 11:08:11

Ha Ha ha. Perhaps, they are for sale all year round, and people don't really notice them except when they are SO out of season?
My GS told me in March that his step father [who is a lorry driver] was taking 100,000 creme eggs from A to B. I find them revolting, so Yuck!

Diddy1 Wed 14-Dec-16 12:21:57

So happy to hear this, next week Im coming to the UK, and MUST take loads home, dont have them here, and I LOVE them, best news today!

Sad that retailers want to rush us through life, half the fun is anticipation......all those year round strawberries hanging about waiting for a taste and cream eggs about to go in advent calenders I shouldn't wonder.

Life is delicious, give us time to taste it.

Topcat006 Wed 14-Dec-16 13:39:57

That is early, bad enough the day after Boxing Day ?

Lilylilo Wed 14-Dec-16 14:44:44

meandashy Wed 14-Dec-16 15:22:32

A friend of my mum who is deeply religious was in tears shouting at a tesco manaher on NYE that jesus had only just been born & they were getting ready to crucify him by having easter eggs on display! Poor lady was very distressed ?

Not so different from Kinder eggs really, and they are on sale all year round. I bought one for DGS this morning, he doesn't eat the chocolate but collects the models.

Easter eggs were not a religious symbol, and if they are sold as 'creme eggs' all the year round then they are nothing to do with Easter at all.

The egg, an ancient symbol of new life, has been associated with pagan festivals celebrating spring.
From a Christian perspective, Easter eggs are said to represent Jesus' emergence from the tomb and resurrection.
Yet another pre-Christian pagan symbol which Christianity has appropriated.

And creme eggs are by Cadbury, what do they care about anyone's feelings as long as they are making a profit, putting people out of work after promising not to.

Lilyflower Wed 14-Dec-16 16:43:16

I eat mince pies and hot cross buns all year round. Will Baby Jesus be offended? I do hope not.

granjura Wed 14-Dec-16 17:53:42

yuk yuk yuk - btw Creme eggs recipe has been changed to use even cheaper ingredients, and are defo no longer made by Cadbury's - but by Amercican group Modelez - those who have replaced cocoa butter with tons of dreadful Virgin rainforest orang outang killing palm oil sad

Midge Wed 14-Dec-16 19:39:17

Have not eaten a creme egg since Cadbury spoilt them by selling out to Americans

HannahLoisLuke Wed 14-Dec-16 20:27:13

I adore cream eggs, wish I could find some. I also have hot cross buns toasted in the afternoon. Better than tea cakes.

1974cookie Wed 14-Dec-16 21:59:53

So the future is:
Hot Cross Mince pies.
Cadbury Creme reindeer
?

DSIL has been abroad for work recently, and returned with gifts for the DGC - Christmas-themed Kinder eggs...!!!
Now that really is taking the conflation of Christmas and Easter too far...shock

grannypiper Thu 15-Dec-16 18:03:39

1974cookiebrilliant but dont give them ideastchsmile

MammaN Thu 15-Dec-16 22:49:29

We've been buying hot cross buns all year.
