new york xmas shopping

I'd love to do this too. DD did it at Halloween and bought so many lovely things. DS got engaged under the famous Christmas tree.
I think you have to do it for the experience. The good thing is that the flight is relatively short.

Get it booked jordana and go it is a wonderful experience I bought so many lovely things when we went the first time that we had to go back again as 4 days where not long enough to fully enjoy the trip.DS1 and his wife are there for Black Friday sales and will come back with suitcases full of designer clothes for themselves bought for stupidly cheap prices.

I know a few people who do it too jordana and they say it's amazing. Sadly way out of my league (financially) but I would jump at the chance if I could afford it.

I too would love to do this. Mind you, I've been to New York and didn't see anything that particularly stood out as worth buying. Saying that, we only went for 4 nights and didn't spend much time in the shops as we wanted to see all the sights. I loved the place and can imagine how beautiful it looks around Christmas time.

Yes I would love this too but my husband would hate it. Maybe I will ask a girlfriend to come with me before its too late,. Would like to see all the sights as well, be a proper tourist.

I'd be waaay out of my comfort zone! Too much noise, hustle and bustle and too many people, I'd probably have a panic attack...

(Just as well, because I couldn't afford it anyway!)

I was there in September with my daughter, a first for us both. The $ was poor as it is now but still very worthwhile for shopping and I would do it again absolutely! Though I may go for less time and plan the timing of what I want to do better, she is my youngest and we are poles apart in our requirements although best of friends too, for instance she spent 100s in Victorias Secret I did not.

Would love it once I was there, but can't bring myself to do the long flight over the Atlantic. Too scary.

We went to new york for my hubbies 50th bday in may 1994 and saw all the sights Inc going up twin towers but would love to see shops with all xmas decorations

They used to say it was cheaper to do your Christmas shopping out there than at home, even allowing for flights and accommodation. But "they" must have spent considerably more than me, even when the pound was riding high!

I'd love to go at Christmas, and see the decorations. We were there at Easter, and the Easter Parade was just wonderful - the Americans really go to town on occasions like that. We spent most of the week rushing around sight-seeing though, while a colleague there for the same week never got further than the shops, so it must be worth it for a shopaholic!

We did go to the huge Century 21 store near Ground Zero. We managed to lose each other and I did feel very disoriented. At one stage I came across a woman sitting on the floor surrounded by shopping bags, very slowly and methodically pulling her hair out.
