Yesterday I went out of my door, and sitting on pour drive was a poor bedraggled chap. He was hunched against the cold, obviously shocked from the dreadful experience he had been through, his eyes half closed against the wind and rain.
I reached out to him, speaking softly, but he hobbled pitifully away from my outstretched hand. I made another effort and this time I managed to pick him up. " Ok Sunshine", I said " I think you need a day or two in re hab, so off to the Greenhouse we went. I settled him in, gave him some bread and water, and left him quietly huddled in the corner. At least he was warmer in there, dry, and safe from predators. I fully expected him to be dead this morning.
He is as perky as anything!, eyes bright, strutting around, but sadly lacking his tail feathers( after the attack)
Yes Ladies, a Pigeon...I don't even like Pigeons too much they are a pain in the garden, but the poor thing, I felt so sorry for him.
If he is better still tomorrow we will take him out and se if he is able to fly. I hope so as I don't want to soften him up too much, or get him too tame. he neds to go back to his own kind. I will keep you posted.
Then tonight after tea Dh went out to the garage, he came back and told me there is a LIZARD in the back shed!! On investigation I saw it was a Newt. Goodness knows how it got there, perhaps came in on a garden tool or something. I scopped him up and took him next door ( As you do
). My neighbour has a Pond, he took him from me and said he would take him straight around to the Pond, so that was easily sorted.
I hope not to find anymore waifs and strays now I have enough on my plate already!!
Has anyone else noticed their energy levels change as they've got older?
