Deflated in a good way

Well that was good – and well behaved Sainsburys.

I thought you were talking about iron levels, so the steaming bit confused me, it's not hard, but it did.

Yes, that was lovely of them to do that for you but if it is not fit for purpose, and the lady probably recognised the iron as one of theirs, so she did the right thing. But so many times they do argue with you when you take something back without receipt.

At least now you have got out of the ironing!

p.s. I don't even own an iron, I just dry clothes until crease free.

Ive taken items back to Sainsburys before and if it's their own brand they don't require a receipt. Their customer service is usually excellent. Last week we bought a gardening mag with no bar code on it. They said have on them!

I think Sainsbury's customer service is really good, they really go out of their way to be helpful - at least at the two I regularly use and two others I use occasionally.

i have just had a similar experience with a Dreamland electric blanket. pushed out the boat (£90) as it was dual control, cotton cover etc. etc and was washable, so i carefully washed as per instruction but it split after washing. contacted Dreamland, i had no receipt and got it about 3 years ago. They sent me a free replacement, and were very helpful. Very much appreciated.

With the ease that disgruntled customers can post their problems on the internet, most companies would rather nip problems in the bud. It costs big companies millions to build up a company profile, a few bad reviews can cost them thousands.

I bought two ink cartridges from John Lewis, got them home, unwrapped them from all their packages and found they didn't fit. I had bought the wrong ones. So back I went thinking I had no chance of an exchange as they were unwrapped and no receipt but guess what ...they were exchanged in seconds. JL They have my custom for life.

I always keep receipts, except on a particular occasion I couldn't find it. One of the two touch lamps from Asda had stopped working so I went back with both...they were a matching pair.

No receipt, so customer service sent for manager. He said no, he needed receipt as they might not even be from Asda so I showed him the Asda label on the base!!
He still said no. So I produced a copy of the Sale of Goods Act which states that no receipt is required for faulty goods.
He still said no......stating it was company policy.
I replied asking was company policy flying in the face of the Sale of Goods Act.
He gave in and replaced both lamps. Result!!
Have to say Asda are normally excellent, this particular manager was just being a pain. I knew many rights having been a legal Secretary.

DH bought some trackie bottoms from Sainsburys. We didn’t expect them to be tight fitting but it came as a surprise that they appeared to have been designed to appeal to New York teenage Gangstas as they slipped down at the back firstly exposing underwear and finally falling down. Now whilst this may be classed as a somewhat bizarre fashion statement when worn by teenagers, it could be perceived as considerably more sinister when the rear on show is that of a 57 year old Yorkshireman.

I didn't have the receipt and, as he'd worn them, I'd washed them so I emailed customer services. At first I was offered a gift card for £18 but when I mentioned that items had to be 'fit for purpose' they sent a further gift card that refunded the full amount. I love Sainsbury's.
