The Newspaper has just missed off the rest of the sentence: conceiving with their partner. As yggdrasil said, it takes two. People do talk about themselves as a pair getting pregnant nowadays and "We are expecting a baby".

But yes, "may" is a weasel word.

It's not a great line but it obviously means that IVF may affect boys' fertility.

Well, I think it's obvious.

It's even more obvious in that the report is referring to those conceived by ICSI, a particular type of IVF for men with low sperm count.

Of course what they mean is obvious, thatbags but it is not what the headline says which was my point. <sigh>
I still maintain that men do not conceive.

I misread bags' post - my 'obvious' was referring to the result of the research i.e. that it was obvious that father's with a low sperm count might have sons with the same problem.

If the meaning is obvious does it matter what was actually said?
