I sometimes comment on posts
I have placed a couple of posts
Sometimes I don't know how to respond
Sometimes I just don't feel knowledgeable enough to comment
Others have commented that it's all very gloomy on here
So, as I spend a lot of time on my own it is nice to dip in and see what's going on and today I'm just feeling content ! No reason, nothing happening, just content and wanted to share this feeling brewcupcake

Thanks GrannyPiggy I sometimes feel lacking in knowledge about some of the posts too, so like you I dip in an out where I feel comfortable but even then I sometimes read my posts later and wish there were a delete/edit button.grin

It's not all gloomy on here IMO and your post proves it grannypiggy, so thank you. sunshine

Hello GrannyPiggy. Your post made me smile, my mother used to say 'there's nothing strange or startling happening, thank god!'

I'm another infrequent poster but I do like to dip in and out of Gransnet. sunshine

What a lovely post GrannyPiggy it made me think of the times when I posted a few times a day but sadly during this past year my health has not been 100% and I haven't had the inclination to post very much but I do enjoy reading the posts of my virtual friends.

I think all of us pick and choose which discussions we join, or leave when an interesting discussion wanders down a by way we are not interested in or know nothing about.

This surely is the joy of Gransnet, the ability to pick and choose.

You have the right idea, GrannyPiggy If there is nothing of interest on any of the conversations, then start one of your own. It doesn't have to be earth-shatteringly topical or learned, just open a new thread and chat. Someone will answer, then off we go!

mrshat Tue 19-Apr-16 17:19:54

Contentment is good! Enjoy flowers

grannyactivist Tue 19-Apr-16 19:00:44

GrannyPiggy thank you. sunshine
On Wednesdays I host a conversation group at a local nursing home (I'm the chaplain there) and often the conversations are simply about sharing what people are feeling; no pressure to join in or say anything earth shattering, but an opportunity to take part if wanted.
Tomorrow's topic is about things we're grateful for. I'm grateful for Gransnet and my lovely community of virtual friends here.

I love quiet contentment too. I don't join in the political debate because I don't have the time to research or read the whole thread. It's nice to be cheered up too and some of the posts do that.

rosesarered Tue 19-Apr-16 19:37:53

I too, am fed up of all the gloom and doom, particularly on political threads. So start a thread on anything you like GrannyPiggy I once started a thread on cheese on toast, which to my amazement ran for several pages! grin

Bellasnana Tue 19-Apr-16 20:24:20

It's lovely to feel content and I do, for the most part. It's just that there's a little bit of me which wonders when the next blow is coming to spoil it all. ?

Sorry I missed your cheese on toast thread, rosesgrin

I had my little grandson today
He was so content that he fell asleep in his pushchair under the tree in the shade.
I sat in the sunshine quitely reading.
And yes grannypig I was very happy and content

BBbevan Wed 20-Apr-16 09:27:51

Cherrytree was it a cherry tree he fell asleep under, by any chance?. That makes a lovely picture smile

☀️ The sun is shining here today, the washing is outside drying, the birds are singing their hearts out, the dog is playing happily in the garden. I am feeling content too. <puts head above parapet and hopes no metaphorical snipers are hiding in the bushes>

My Mum died last month. She was in her nineties.

Over the last year she told several members of the family more than once that she felt very content. She said "I've had a wonderful life, I've got a great family. What more could anyone want?" That gave us great comfort when she passed away.

If you feel like that, GrannyPiggy, do tell your nearest and dearest. I hope you'll be going strong for many a long year, but if you are suddenly gone, they will be glad to know that's how you felt right now.

Feeling very happy but tired today as our young grandsons came to visit. They have been living overseas and this is their first visit to our house in 2½ years. They were so happy to rediscover things in our house that they could still remember. I'd forgotten how tiring they can be though! We have visited them very occasionally but have so missed having them visit us.

annsixty Wed 20-Apr-16 20:50:36

rockgran I remember you posting very upset when your family were going overseas, was it the Falklands? I can't believe how long ago that was, it has gone quickly but not ,I expect ,for you. Enjoy their visit.

rockgran Wed 20-Apr-16 20:57:57

Yes, Annsixty - thankyou. it was very hard at first but you do adjust. So long as they are happy I can cope.

Luckygirl Wed 20-Apr-16 21:30:12

There's nothing like a sleeping baby to make you feel content. ZZzzzzz.

Synonymous Wed 20-Apr-16 21:35:44

It was such a lovely day again today so I sat out in the garden in the sunshine. I. wandered around to admire the flowers. Then I saw the bittercress so I pulled them out which means I can say 'I did some gardening' so I am also very content!
DH brought out a tea tray which was very civilized. smile brew cupcake

I have recently had my 70th birthday. My daughters visited and did their best to give me a lovely time. I had a conversation with one of them. I don't know how it started but I told her that I am very content with my life. I have had difficult times but am happy now.
Glammanana, I'm sorry to hear you are not well. I seem to remember that you had a fall.
