No emergency cover!

Cover WILL be provided by consultants.
On the day of the last strike, DH had 2 very solicitous phone calls and an email from the registrar who had seen him in clinic the previous day. So not every hospital was affected 100% on that day.
Don't panic.

I never saw a junior doctor when I was in hospital, the consultant visited twice a day.

Cover will be provided by the consultants. No one 'wants' to strike...

Why is it morally wrong for them not to give emergency cover, they are fighting an immoral government

I do get really fed up with the idea of putting moral pressure on people who are fighting for reasonable and, in this case, reasoned working conditions.

I am sure we will soon get the "it used to be a vocation" just as we do with teachers. It's a job, nothing more, nothing less. They have not taken holy orders and a vow of poverty. People do it to the best of their ability and with care but it's a job. Those doing it have every right to strike - although the government should not have brought it to that. If this government stopped acting like mill owners in the 18th Century they wouldn't have to strike would they?

No emergency cover isn't going to affect the very wealthy PM is it.

Hopefully the consultants will manage things and there won't be any deaths ( but you can never say never.)

As has already been said, emergency cover will be provided by consultants.

It isn't the junior doctors who lack dedication and compassion, it's this awful government.

They would not do it if they were not sure the consultants would cover them. In fact, you will probably be safer during the strike.

We should also remember that the strike is supported by the BMA who are known to be a responsible organisation. There must be something seriously wrong with the proposed contract for the BMA to take this view.

The proposed contract is unsafe. They are doing us a favour by saving lives in the future as they will be unfit to work some of the time under the new contract.
