Absolutely not janeainsworth. My grandaughter's are 8 and 9. They are both very strong minded girls. They are as equal to (in their minds better) than any boy or man. They have never seen sexism/misogyny in their life and I have no desire for them to explore the injustices of women in the past any more than they might need to during lessons in school. It would certainly not be a subject for a family chat as why put things into their heads that they have no need to even think about.

I don't really understand it. I'm with Gillybob there. I do remember being appalled to see a young girl about 9 wearing a baseball cap with bitch on it in capitals. I must have looked horrified and both girl and her mother were pleased at my reaction. I still can't fathom out why people insist on messages on clothes. Compulsive readers like me can have embarrassing moments when staring intently at people's clothes.

No. My granddaughter is 9 , first of all I would have to explain the word - which I'm almost positive she will never have heard of. Secondly, she has all the time in the world to decide what she believes in and why.

We encourage her to make good, informed choices and if she wants to do something that would have been denied her on a gender only basis we support her in finding a way to do it.

She's our granddaughter , not a walking billboard for a cause ( no matter what that cause is ) .

I would buy her a Frozen one with "let it go" on it.
