Bargain Hunter or Only What You Need?

Just buy what we need really, too many special offers are often wasted.However if tins or toiletries, then may buy bargains.We shop every week, usually twice, if you include local shops.

I'm a bargain hunter. If it's a product we use and has no sell by date I've been known to buy half a dozen. The trick is not to use more than normal because you know you have more.

I can't resist a bargain but I also hate waste so. I end up consulting the Internet about how I can use up this and that. Good fun !

I hesitate to say I buy only what I need, more I buy only what I have decided in advance that I want. I rarely take up special offers, frequently I do not even see them. I am also not an impulse buyer.

I walked out of a branch of Sainsbury's recently because all the prices on the shelves were given as the price for two of every item when I only wanted to buy single items and I did not want to buy price blind.

I tend to play Tesco and Sainsbury off against each other. For example, if Felix sachets are on full price in one they will be say three for a tenner at the other. If there is something is on special, like a huge Lenor, I get that and don't have to bother with it for ages. Sadly we do not have a Lidle or Aldi near us. When I do finally get my bus pass, 10 months and counting, I will be able to shop more regularly at Iceland and the Poundshop. (I suppose I could now but after paying 6 quid for the bus fare it is not much of a saving). Made a great buy today, a new winter coat, £45 then down to half price then £13.50 by the time I got to the till, result!

I got the feeling that the bargain-hunter had a home stocked with her bargains, I overheard her say she was still using Up something she bought four years ago! No idea what but hopefully not anything perishable! Lol!

I have a stock of Christmas cards bought at a reduced rate at the end of December. Each year I say I will not add to them but I always do. I already have about 100 but we will only need about half that number !

Food - I buy weekly and pay as much as I can afford for meat (organic free range) because of animal welfare. Other food as we need it.

BUT everything else I won't buy unless it is reduced as far as humanly possible - especially clothes, shoes and household goods.The mark-up is ridiculous on tjings. I only buy what I need though and budget for everything.

I always bargain hunt for clothes and household items. I have bought a couple of nice summer dresses in the Christmas sales!
Found that I spend less on food if I plan a menu, have a list and only buy what I need whatever the offer.
Sometimes I can't decide what we will eat so it is whatever is marked down because of the sell by date in our local Co op.

I stock up on cat food, cleaning material and items which will keep for months or years. It has stood me in good stead when I had a fall, had surgery and was unable to drive for over 3 months. It was something less to worry about. I also pick up so many bargains.
