I just found that list of acronyms. Most of them are familiar as they go through all forums, but I had been bemused by DS, DGS etc. Now I now these mean "Dear or Darling" relative, it makes a bit more sense, but isn't it a bit twee?

yggdrasil it might seem a bit twee to you but it sure saves a lot of typing grin

It depends how often you mention your dear/dratted relatives.

You forget about it being twee after a while. I tend not to use the D before GD and GC etc. as I get confused...grin

Do we still have OG which used to mean 'old git' - ie not so dear husband!

As the DearXYZ seems to be unique to MN and GN I'd love to know which one started it. Did HQ print it in a list when the sites began or was it one of the original members who first used it
Does HQ even know. ?

I think it is also a matter of number of letters. For some reason an acronym looks better if it has at least 2 letters, thus DH not H and DD, not D. Or is it just me confused
