I heard an interesting call in programme on the radio yesterday about clocks.

So here are some of the questions.

How many are in your house ?
Do they all work?
Do you depend on alarms to wake you ?
Do you set any in advance of the real time ?

You get my drift, now over to you.

I have a clock in every room except the bathroom, including a granddaughter Chimer in the hall. They all within a minute or two are accurate to the correct time. I don't have an alarm unless I need one for holidays special days etc. I am retired!!!! smile

I have a kitchen clock, a clock on the cooker, three telephones around the house, each showing the time on the handset. I have a carriage clock in the sitting room, an alarm clock which I consigned to the bathroom as it has too loud a tick. I use a Nintendo DS as my alarm. In the hall stands the family heirloom, a rather handsome grandfather clock. It doesn't work, as my late MiL thought it was noisy and took it's works apart. I think we still have all the peices so one day I would like to hear it myself.

Retirement - and I'm an experienced retiree - means not having to rely on clocks. However, I do have a clock radio by the bed, though I never use the alarm. The only times I use the phone alarm are when I need to catch an early flight and that doesn't happen too often. I have almost mastered the clock on the cooker and have a kitchen clock which is only there for its decorative effect - VW Beetles memorabilia! Several watches are available but I don't bother with the ones that have to be wound up; and I have an antique carriage clock which chimes when I remember to wind it up.

Have clocks in every room, including the bathroom. BUT do they all tell the same time? Well that's another story LOL

We have one in the bedroom which shines the time on the ceiling so during the night I can see what the time is. Our eldest grandson loves it.

We have a clock in the hall and a small clock in the loft room.

I rarely use an alarm - except perhaps if we are catching a very early flight and can't risk oversleeping. Usually I just tell myself to wake at a specific time and I do. I don't wear a watch. I generally have a fairly good idea within about quarter of an hour of what the time is.

OH has a clock radio by his bed left over from days when the alarm got him up for work. The phones have the time on them and of course the cooker, microwave and tv have clock displays. Thats it no other clocks and I only use an alarm if I have to get to the airport for a flight or pickup.
I haven't worn a watch since the day I retired and thats 10yrs nearly. I can usually guess roughly the time accurately.

Wall clock in the kitchen, wall clock in the living room, plus timer on dvd player. Daughter has a clock that`s never working in her bedroom/my front room that was, plus the timer on her dvd. Clock radio in my bedroom that`s wrong because I don`t know how to set it, plus a large alarm clock with bells on. And hubby has a wall clock in his bedroom. Nearly forgot, I have 2 tiny ornamental ones on my fancy shelves in the living room, they would tell the time if I bothered to put batteries in them, and there`s a small alarm clock in a cupboard that used to be kept in the caravan before we sold it.

We have clocks in the kitchen, the conservatory, the hall and a small one with an alarm in our bedroom. We have a Waterford crystal clock on the mantel in the sitting room but as it never has a battery in it, it is classified as an ornament! DH has one of those brass alarm clocks with the two bells on the top which he is forbidden to press into service because I hate the clamour it makes.

I have clocks in the living room, dining room, kitchen (plus one on oven and one on microwave) and one on each side of our bed. All are working, if I do need to get up at a certain time I will set the alarm but I usually turn it off before it beeps.
The bedside clocks are 5-10 mins fast.

Why did I read this thread! shock

We have 7 phones in various rooms, all telling the time, 2 art deco clocks, 2 radio clock alarms (in different bedrooms) 2 electronic bedside clocks (in different rooms) 3 CD players, the cooker, the microwave, a kitchen wall clock, a modern cuckoo clock and a grandfather clock (which is actually my grandmother's grandmother clock)

Apart from the phones, I doubt any of them agree. One art deco (chiming) clock loses time as it needs winding but the 'grandfather' clock gains it. The 'grandfather' clock is in the hall where the business phone is kept and has Westminster chimes. I swear it knows when the phone rings as it always chimes while I am taking down details and, usually, it is the full hour, so 16 chimes, plus the actual hour - so at noon it chimes 28 times.

I suspect you have two more Kitty one on your computer and one on your mobile phone. Oh and do you have an IPad too ?

kittylester Thu 24-Sept-15 20:57:32

I realised after that I hadn't counted those but I have to switch them on to use them! grin So that's two laptops, two phones, a tablet and a few watches. Oh and the two in the car and one in DH's. So, why am I always late? confused

We have 3 clocks- one 18C Neuchâtel clock made ba a very famous maker- a 19C miniature version, and here in the lounge, a German skeleton clock ticking behind me- bought from ... Scotts of Stow for DH's 50th bd nearly 20 years ago. And of course both cookers have got a digital clock- and DH has a digital alarm clock by his bed. I still dream of owning a grand-father type clock, like the one we had when I was a child - but I do live in clock and watches country ;)
