Hi Everyone
Had accident outside a shop in Isle of Wight last November. Was very traumatic. Only moved to the island two weeks before. I have a plate and pins. I Also have Osteoporosis. I am still limping. Cannot walk properly. Have to use a Rollater for walking any distance! Am feeling very frustrated about it. Has anyone else got this problem. Any suggestions please.

What a rotten start to your new life. I suppose it was a way of getting to know people -NHS people! No easy answers but I would say that I think you could get a lot out of this forum. Always something going on. I hope you feel much better soon.

Henanbien64 did you have any physio after your surgery? I can only say that following my hip-replacement the excercises given on discharge were followed religiously as many times a day as I could manage and I had a very good recovery. I realise your surgery was after a traumatic accident but the same rule applies you need to do the excercises to strengthen the muscles around the implant to get a good result. Do they suspect some problem with your foot or ankle as you are seeing a Podiatrist?
Maybe you could ask your GP if physio is appropriate and could be prescribed for you. I hope things improve soon.

Is there a physio class or group you could join? Exercise is sometimes easier with company and can be helpful to meet people in the same boat.

Thanks Tanith. I did have physio and lots of it. I did all of the exercises religiously. I have had to wait all this time to see a podiatrist. Appointment 22 October. I have other conditions which don't help. Spondylosis in my back with lots of Osteophites. Also a partial knee replacement with a bakers cyst and arthritis in my other big toe. Also Medication for Osteoporosis. So there are a lot of complications. I have to exercise every day for my Spondylosis.I'm just a bit down at the moment wondering if I will be able to walk normally again. Saw Consultant three months after. He did say I would probably always need a stick or two. Will wait to see what happens after Podiatrist appointment. Jackie

Oh my you do have a lot to deal with Henanbien64, its no wonder you still have some difficulty, I hope you are able to find something that helps you improve, maybe something like Pilates or excercises in the water could help you.

It was very unfortunate that you had your accident so soon after moving there and I am assuming that you do not know your neighbours.

Are there any exercise classes that you could go to, you would meet people and also gain strength. You could explain your problems to whoever runs the class, taking frequent breaks until you feel stronger.
