Now I'm panicking!!!

My DD had her 34 week scan yesterday. She went in with 6 weeks to go and came out with a date booked for induction in 4.5 weeks time shock. Now I'm in a panic about all the things that I'd lazily been taking my time over in recent months. I am halfway through the newborn beanie hat the hospital ask for. And I have two tiny cardigans to make - one pink, one blue, to cover both eventualities wink. The patchwork cot quilt isn't finished. And I'm making a little album from pretty craft paper and card to present to her just after the birth - this will be filled with 'fairy godmother wishes' collected at her baby shower next week.
Oh and the house will have to be cleaned from top to bottom, bedding washed for her and the baby; all essential baby equipment ferried from her house to ours - and homes found for all these things in our (rather full!) house - as she will be staying with us for the first couple of weeks.
And my DH and I have to go round to her house and make up the wardrobe and chest of drawers for the baby's room, and put up a couple of shelves in her kitchen.
Help!!! shock

Well stop posting on Gransnet and get on with it!! grin. Good luck!

shock I could clean the odd window if you like. (I've got a Karcher)

You'd better put a blocker on Gransnet. I've got one called Leechblock. It's cuts in at 10 am. And then I go on my mini i-pad.

Good luck with all that, Ash. On the bright side, you have a lovely new GC to look forward to. sunshine

I was aware of the irony in starting this thread, even as I was typing it jings grin. Now IS NOT the time to procrastinate!
I'll just finish this brew and cupcake and then I'll get stuck in....

annodomini Thu 14-May-15 09:36:51

PS. Ash - how very lucky your DD is to have you. smile

AshTree Thu 14-May-15 09:37:17

Oh, and thank you, all offers of window cleaning (and any other cleaning) gratefully accepted. Lots of cupcake will be available in payment grin

pompa Thu 14-May-15 09:39:27

You would have only put all those jobs off until the last moment anyway smile

AshTree Thu 14-May-15 09:41:33

Thanks anno. Yes I am so looking forward to the new little one - and DD never stops saying she doesn't know what she'd do without us. I keep telling her it's all part of the JD, which she will very soon be finding out wink

And apologies, Jane10, just noticed it was you, not jings who told me to get off GN and get on with it grin.

Right, I'm going. I am. Honest injun.

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 14-May-15 09:46:25

I did too! I told you how. smile

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 14-May-15 09:46:49

Oh. She's gone.

rosequartz Thu 14-May-15 09:54:25

We will let you back on when all the jobs are finished grin

I'm off to do my jobs [virtuous halo]

Mishap Thu 14-May-15 10:03:30

No sleep for you then! Enjoy having a new little one - I know I am!

AshTree Thu 14-May-15 11:22:31

I'm back, temporarily! Yes jings you did tell me how, sorry. But it was Jane10 who told me to bugger off stop posting on GN and get on with it grin
Update: I have now more or less finished the little album, just got to find two little metal things to stick on the cover which will then close onto the magnetic strip I've attached. hmm might have to raid DH's 'bits and bobs' supply in the garage. Then will have to cut out pretty shapes from pastel coloured paper to take to the baby shower and ask each friend to write down their 'fairy godmother wish' for the baby (away from prying Mum-to-be's eyes!). These will be pasted into the album with all sorts of pretty embellishments. Very pleased with it so far. Having another brew now (but no cupcake) and about to finish knitting little hat. Happy days [sun]

AshTree Thu 14-May-15 11:23:33

Oops, sorry roseq, forgot to ask permission to come back on before finishing all the jobs grin.
I'm off again. Byeeeee xx

AshTree Thu 14-May-15 11:25:55

Oh, and thanks Mishap - yes I plan to thoroughly enjoy this little one. Pity we can't get together and have a big proud Grandmother show-off session grin.

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 14-May-15 11:31:00

shine

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 14-May-15 11:31:43

(that's the bit you left off your emoti)

janerowena Thu 14-May-15 11:37:50

She's probably panicking more than the mum!

AshTree Thu 14-May-15 14:00:15

Now the little beanie hat's finished! Time to get started on the cardigans smile

janerowena Thu 14-May-15 14:02:24

One a day, no problem! grin

rosequartz Thu 14-May-15 14:32:45

You are so speedy! Well done.

This is very exciting, keep us updated.

I had better go and get on with the DGD's cardigans (a bit bigger than newborn).
There is nothing like procrastinating, it is very enjoyable.

AshTree Thu 14-May-15 14:57:13

Oh it is! I love procrastination. I remember seeing a Simon Drew tea towel in his shop in Dartmouth - it had little cartoon pigs (I think) carrying banners which read:

What do we want?
Procrastination!
When do we want it?
Tomorrow!

grin

rosequartz Thu 14-May-15 15:05:18

grin

I am still here, and the front bands need picking up and knitting on one of the cardigans.
hmm
