Is it too late to 'start again' at 52?

Someone I know has just 'started again' at 79 - as do lots of their friends!

They all go dancing which seems to spark romancing.
So perhaps a pair of dance shoes rather than slippers (if that is what you want!)

Good grief, no. It's never too late anyway, but you are a mere youngster!
So, if you want a different way of life for whatever reason, go for it!

You could have another 40 good years in you yet, but not if you don't get out there and grab life by the wotsits!

Mind you, they could all be a bit old for you at those dances!!

bee63 Certainly not you go and do it whatever that may be,at 51 we moved abroad and started a new lifestyle and then a business which gave us nearly 10 years of enjoyment and kept us busy.
Even now at nearly 65 I run my own catering business (even though its part time) and fully enjoy our life.Go for what ever you want you have loads of happy years ahead.
Who wants to sit in front of the fire in their slippers and moan "if only I tried this".

I certainly don't think age is a barrier to continuing to live life to the full. Why should it be.

You are obviously at least considering your options so that's step number one.

The hardest part is knowing how to do it I suppose. Do I join a club, dare I use a dating web site, do I ask a particular friend I know out for a meal.

Good luck but remember only you can tell yourself what feels right for you!

Never too late!

Yes buy a nice pair of slippers, you will need them.

Why, because you should buy a classy pair on dancing shoes at the same time and get your butt out there - it's never too late until they nail the lid down.

Thank you for all the positive comments - yes, it's never too late, but if I leave it another 10 years I'll look back & think I was young at 52! It's just knowing where to start. I wouldn't go down the dating site route ( just not my thing ) but I'll join some clubs & just get back out there.

I'll keep you updated on my journey into later life adventure.

I had a very good decade in my 50s. A grandchild, a satisfying job, successful participation in local politics, great holidays (mainly Ramblers), Open University French course, friends, family. Although my joints let me down in my 60s, I haven't stopped and each phase of life has given me new opportunities and new challenges - and more grandchildren too. So fear not! Life goes on - and on.

I began a new career at 50 - I had 10 fun years before retiring.

I think 52 is very young to abandon "life and love" - my FIL was trying to get hold of viagra at 93 in order to satisfy his new lady!

I was 50 when we took our 80ft boat to the Mediterranean. I still felt very young then.

At 46 I separated/divorced and was not interested in dating, especially feeling I was pretty middle aged !!
I started a new job (had to go up from part-time) and loved it, was totally independent and self supporting.. and solvent (just about).

From out of the blue I met the man who was to become my DH. We've been together now for 18 very happy years.

Yes - Enjoy a nice new pair of slippers - but remember there is plenty of time to use them after you've been out and about enjoying yourself.
It's Spring time, lovely walks in the local park, coffee with a friend. Have dinner with a friend and go to the movies. Visit a local car boot sale, they will be starting up again for the summer.
Ask a friend to go for a nice walk.... there's lots of opportunity for chat on a walk, (male or female ) and if it's a male friend there's absolutely no committment involved - just opportunity.

Oaks from little acorns grow - and this applies to just about anything I can think of.

My mother's friend remarried at 70 and celebrated her silver wedding anniversary by dancing at their party. She taught dancing until she was 94.

52 is young - you could have years, decades left to you! So go for it, grab life and wring as much fun out of it as you can.

You are still a baby at 52! I started a new life at 61, I was very unhappy in my other life and intend to retire in a few years time to another area to be near my children and grandchildren so another " new life" again at that point. Do anything you fancy you're a long time dead!

When I was at the airport in February waiting for my flight I got chatting to a couple at a coffee stop. The man had a wheelchair and the woman had sight problems and got dizzy spells so I escorted her to the toilets.

She then confided in me that they were not a married couple! She was in her late 80s and they lived in their own homes in Lancashire and Warwickshire. They had originally met on a cruise and had other holidays together.

This time they were off on holiday together to Lanzarote. I was really impressed with the pair of them. It's certainly never too late.

Gracious! 52 past it???? My cousin & his partner (both in their early 50s ) just had a baby!

It's never ever too late. I married DH four years ago when I was 52.

In a word ... No! Never too late.
