I think a nice alternative to buying a gift for occasions such as Mothers Day/Fathers Day would be making a special effort to surprise someone with, for instance, a mini spring clean or a nicely weeded flowerbed, or several "vouchers" for little chores. My feeling is that time and effort can be more valuable, and appreciated, than gifts. What do others think?
