Help, I have read this and tomorrow I am hosting the book group discussion of it. I read it on Kindle so can't flick back to find out who Vihaan is? I must have slept through a chapter as I have no idea who this character is or why what happened to him, happened to him, (if that makes sense). I have to say I didn't really like the book but I know some of our book group loved it.

I haven’t read the book but this is what AI says:

When Gordon finds out about the baby's name Cora chose, he begins physically assaulting her. Hearing her screams, Vihaan rushes in and drags Gordon off her. Gordon retaliates by shoving Vihaan backward, causing him to crash through a glass door and die. This tragic incident leads to Gordon being sent to prison, which inadvertently frees Cora and her son from further abuse in that specific timeline

I haven't read the book, but AI knows that:

In the bestselling novel The Names by Florence Knapp, Vihaan is a kind neighbor. In the "Bear" timeline, he hears the main character, Cora, screaming for help during a violent attack by her abusive husband, Gordon. Vihaan rushes over and bravely tries to intervene. Tragically, Gordon pushes Vihaan through a glass patio door, killing him.Vihaan's sacrifice serves as a major turning point in the story. It leads to Gordon being sent to prison for murder, which allows Cora and her children to escape his abuse and begin a new life.

Thank you both. I haven't yet got used to asking AI when I want to know something. I will go back through the Bear chapters and see if I can find it.

If it's a more modern Kindle then you can do a search, just type in Vihaan and it will bring up every reference to him. You can then go through each one to remind yourself then go back to the page you were last reading.
I often have to do this, particularly if there are a lot of characters.

Older Kindles are not supported any more so you can't use this facility, which is annoying.

Thanks, I found it. Vihaan wasn't named in the passage and I clearly hadn't been concentrating. I zm now prepared for Book Group.

The Names but he wasn't named!!

He was named at some point because I remembered who he was. I think it was further into the Bear chapters. It was one of my BookClub books too.

I also loved this book and was sad when I finished it.
