This is about the family of John Wilkes Booth who shot Abraham Lincoln. It is full of research and sets the background of the times. It is, however, inevitably quite a long novel and some of the political happenings are obviously better understood by Americans. It is readable and the family are a fascinating blend of eccentricity, talent and the unexpected. I now have about another 100 pages to read and I am beginning to look forward to finishing it.. Not sure if that is me or the book. So would be interested to read what others think.
