Ridiculously long sleeves on knitwear

For children’s sleeves to be 5 inches too long you must surely be a very small person
I have a Roman size 14 jumper on at the moment and the sleeves are the right length

There is another thread about this - it is a more recent problem, daft fashion I think.

Yes, there is now the trend to wear your sleeves long; you will often see young women with sleeves covering their hands. Silly, in my mind. How do you get anything done?

I'm a sleeve pusher-upper (made up that term), so I need cuffs to be snug enough to be pushed up and stay! As I type I have a fine knit jumper with sleeves pushed up to below elbow.

I didn't really answer your question! I would try more traditional shops with finer knits and snug sleeves. Boden for instance. I also see River Island has a petite section on their website.

I'm not petite, but my MIL was, and I often bought her clothing for gifts.

I’ve got narrow shoulders and nearly always have the issue of long sleeves being just too long.
I end up turning cuffs back - or turn sleeves under at the wrist so the extra doesn’t show.

I’ve found Adini and Marble knitwear to be ok with sleeve lengths. Hobbs petite is ok too as is Whistles petite but they are more expensive.

I don't think I have unusually short arms (?) but many sleeves seem to come half way down my hands and because of their shape- trumpet- and absence of ribbed cuffs can't easily be turned over or pushed up
I'm not tall but the shorter boxy shape which seems popular does me few favours either

There seems to be a fashion at the moment of having your sleeves right down over your hands. It looks slovenly and unhygienic. The only answer is to boycott these ridiculous trends.

I have short arms and have to altar coats and jackets, as well as sweaters.
Even bracelet length can be too long.

However, I am wee woman, in all, parts of my body, at least I'm in proportion.😂

As a tall person, 5’ 11” who often has the opposite problem im quite happy with a longer sleeve. I remember school cardigans being embarrassingly short, not to mention unwearable tights with a crotch mid thigh!!

I don't altar sleeves, I alter them.😂

I’m medium height and reasonably slim but find all jumpers now have sleeves long enough for a gorilla, must be the fashion.😤

I've only just looked at GN and I'm sorry If I've upset you. Can anyone tell me how to check for previous topics so that I'm not duplicating please?

Sorry, I think Debenhams used to offer a good petite range but I'm not sure now.

I never needed petite but I am shrinking, apart from my arms which are still longish but not long enough for these new-fashioned jumpers iyswim.

It’s nothing to do with size, petite or otherwise as I said on the thread I started but which has been ignored,but the current trend for long sleeves without cuffs you can push nip or turn over.

In Summer I always wear 3/4 sleeves, problem solved, but in Winter I end up rolling back the cuffs.
A much bigger issue for me is body length - I have a short body, so dresses are almost impossible to find (even supposedly petite versions can be too long!).
I’d love to go shopping in China or Japan - surely clothes must be smaller there to suit the population?🤔

I’ve lost weight, and my clothes are now huge. Sainsbury’s jeans saved the day, but then MnS were doing click and collect again. I can’t comfortably get to the nearest shop, so ordered a couple of their crew neck jerseys. They are huge. A size 12 bought last week is the same size as a 16 from several years ago.
Why?

My arms must be a little short. For years I have found blouses, jumpers, jackets and coat sleeves to be 2 - 3 inches too long. I try to buy blouses and jumpers with three quarter length sleeves. I have also cut the cuffs off and stitched a hem.

I'm 5ft 1in and have always had problems with the length of sleeves, but this year I've noticed that the jumpers on tall models come almost to the tips of their fingers. Ridiculous. It looks stupid. Also, a lot of them have baggy sleeves and no ribbing, which also stops you from turning them up. I often have to buy 3/4 sleeves to solve the problem, but haven't seen any for a long time. There are also jumpers with balloon sleeves, which have ribbing, but you can't turn the sleeves up due to the bulky width of them, and also, I don't know how the manufacturers think you are going to put a coat over those wide sleeves! It is uncomfortable, believe me!
