What should I call myself?

I'm not a great-aunt but I would sign myself Aunty. The birthday boy won't know any difference anyway!

I sign myself Great-Auntie (plus my first name) to my two little great-nieces. They do have aunts, but I’m not one of them. Being Great-Auntie is a little bit special.

Gr-aunty (pronounced Granty) is the new word in our family

I am Aunty to my great neice.

My children always just called their great aunts 'aunty', so that is how they signed anything they sent them.

I would choose great aunty first name. It makes you special and gives a sense of family history.

I like Graunty! I haven’t come across that before. I just sign G-Auntie Sue. My nieces and nephews are in their 40’s & 50’s now so they just call me Sue and tbh, I don’t mind if their children call me Sue, as well. I don’t feel the need to be auntie anything.

What does your niece call you? We all called my mother-in-law’s aunt Aunt Belle (not her real name) because that’s what mil called her even though she was a great aunt to mil’s kids.

My wonderful and much loved aunt was tickled pink by my daughter addressing her as great aunt ... Coming from a huge extended family, it helped to give absentdaughter a clue about who was who and how they fitted in the family among this huge mass of people.

The beauty of titles is that you can choose whatever you want to be called (with the parents' acceptance, of course). I rather like Granty. Don't think I've heard it before. Just as long as it's never pronounced Grunty! Good luck with whatever you choose and...... just enjoy.

I just sign ‘auntie’. My sister makes a point of writing ‘great auntie….’ but it’s a bit lengthy when you add on ‘great uncle….’ also.

My SiL was most put out when my young GC called her Greataunt Margaret when they met for the first time.
She said it made her feel very old ,so Aunty Margaret it was.

I use 'Aunty' as a courtesey title and shall do until the children are adults then, as with nieces and nephews, it will just be my first name.

Same here, Septimia. - though some of my adult nephews and nieces still call me “aunty …”.

I’d suggest Aunty. My daughter gets cards signed ‘great Aunty’ such and such and we find it a bit odd! In person she calls them Aunty! But that is on her dad’s side of the family. On my side the females are aunties.
