It's optional and entirely up to you. Perhaps ask around locally to find out if it's the custom there. I don't usually tip. At Christmas, though, I tip everybody generously.

We always do. We give the delivery person £1.
I think that it's not that common, as they are usually a bit surprised.
If they are bringing it in for you I definitely would tip.
On a couple of occasions in the past the delivery person has said that they are not allowed to take tips, but this hasn't happened for a few years now.

No, not for supermarket or courier deliveries, but yes to Deliveroo/Uber eats.

I've had home delivery for 20 years and it's never crossed my mind to tip. I did notice during the pandemic that there was a bit of hovering but I don't think that it's appropriate.

It's not really on with social distancing and all the contamination issues with cash.

No I dont although there may be exceptional circumstances e.g. heavy load carried somewhere for you. I dont believe their is a contamination issue with cash just wash your hands afterwards.

I would tip because it's a service providing you with goods and it's worthy of little gesture.

I once asked the driver to accept a tip and he refused it saying was doing his job and was well paid for doing it.

I don’t tip anyone who delivers to the door, and only tip the hairdresser if I don’t have the salon owner doing my hair (which I usually do) although I do give her a present at Christmas, also a small gift at Christmas for our window cleaner ( who is a rather lonely person.)
Years ago, we used to tip the ‘dustmen’ paperboy and milkman.We don’t have a paperboy /milkman now, and the refuse collectors here are paid a good salary.

No. That’s what the delivery charge is for. Unless the driver goes above and beyond

We had an Indian meal delivered from a local restaurant. We ordered online, paying a service charge and were offered the choice of the delivery person ringing the bell, putting the food down and standing well back. Our area is tier 3 so we opted for this. The driver rang the bell, hung on to the food and obviously wanted a tip. I’m pleased we didn’t give him one because the food was lukewarm.

I don't top for weekly food delivery but do tip if having furniture delivered as I think it is heavy to carry.

If you were having the same person for every delivery and they acted over and above usual behaviour then maybe, but all our delivery drivers have been different. By all means tip at Christmas, those who deliver regularly eg postperson or milk deliverer but otherwise no. Exchanging cash in these times is not advised anyway.

I don't tip because this is the job they are employed to do . At Christmas I would if it was a regular driver . When I had chickens I did give the Asda driver and the post man eggs .

I tip the WR delivery £10 every time. They are on or not much more than minimum wage and I can easily afford it. I tip my hairdresser 10% every visit ( but gave her much more than that after lockdown as I know they’d all lost a lot of income as furlough was based on basic wage) and tip paper boy and refuse collectors at Christmas
slightly they were instructed by employers not to get signatures as were all delivery people/ post men etc
My tipping behaviour is what I feel comfortable with - it’s neither right nor wrong in general - just what I feel is right for me ( although affordability is obviously relevant)

My personal opinion - in the UK.
If the country has a minimum wage - no don’t tip. If the country doesn’t have a minimum -then feel free to tip.
I no longer tip the hair dresser or waitresses in restaurants here.

I always tip - because I live on the second floor, and, whilst I live near an Aldi and get all my fresh food from them, I order online for heavy things that would be very difficult for me to carry upstairs. Think 6 2-litre bottles of squash, 6 litres of long life milk, carton of 32 cans of coke, tinned veg etc etc.
