Knitted baby jumper

I knitted jumpers for my DC with various patterns on; little trains around the edge, a horse (complete with mane), Postman Pat and his cat etc and even a countryside scene with a small cottage.

DIL liked knitted garments for the DGC too although they are getting too old for them now.

That's lovely. I've been enjoying knitting for grandchildren - their parents do appreciate them and I'm getting more ambitious! I'd love to try that one, if there's any way I could get the pattern.

Whywhywhy that is beautiful. I am so lucky that my DIL has always appreciated my knitting for my grandson. But now the little blighter no longer wants to wear it, he's 5. But there are always other babies to knit for.

I have always knitted for my GC - Aran is my speciality - I've knitted dozens for them, all very much appreciated by their Mums! There are some fabulous colours available in aran these days and I was so proud when they wore them.

Unfortunately I started to develop arthritis in my little fingers (tension fingers) and can't knit any more, I'm really disappointed. I'm reduced to crocheting lacy baby blankets these days. I make several through the winter months and donate them to childrens charities for them to sell.

That's so lovely - Love the colours and the cat design. I wish I could work the different colours together so big holes don't show!

Here are a couple I knitted a while ago.

I think the jumpers look great and, since babies aren't interested in fashion, I am sorry your own children didn't appreciate your talents. I can knit basic things but I couldn't produce these beautiful jumpers.

I remember knitting the horse jumper in yellow for a little DD who was horse-mad.

I've been debating trying my hand at. knitting and some lively Grans here have given me the push I needed to get going.

I doubt I'll ever be able to do cats though!

Wow, some talented knitters. I am late to knitting but a trip to Iceland has inspired me to try some Scandinavian (ish). The Icelandic sweaters were such a price but I adored the natural colours they use - its all based on the natural colour of the fleeces or colours in the landscape. Anyway because they are made on circular needles and I'm teaching myself the techniques I have started with one for the smallest member of the family. Well so far so good and another GC has requested one so I must be doing something right!
I have always been more of a sewer but times change, sewing rooms are a lot to maintain and also its nice to have something you can do 'in your lap'.

HildaW I look forward to seeing some of your work in the future. I must admit that I have tried circular needles and I didnt like them one bit. Happy Knitting! x

I’m surprised that the trend for home grown/ home cooked/ home made hasn’t included baby clothes. I think the baby will look lovely in his/ her beautiful jumper and right on trend too ?

I live knitting it’s my Prozac! It chills me no end. I love knitting baby blankets but find myself searching for old patterns for them if anyone has any? I’ve got three done awaiting ladies having babies at work?
